I'm not so sure why everyone here is so happy. (none / 0) (#18)

In catching up on my reading of what really happened this week, one very disturbing little fact keeps popping up:

"The debate and discussion regarding reforming Medicaid in Michigan is not over," Richardville said. "Members of my caucus have been working hard to improve upon something that was hoisted upon us by a federal government that had very little consideration for the impact of this program on the taxpayers of Michigan. We owe it to our neighbors and communities to thoroughly review this issue and consider alternatives to the current proposal.

"The legislation will be referred to committee and a legislative workgroup will spend the summer reviewing the current legislation and proposals offered by my colleagues that seek to improve upon the tremendous work that has already been done," he said. "I look forward to working with the governor, the House and my colleagues on the other side of the aisle to present a plan for a healthier Michigan."

Or, putting it in clearer terms:

"I want to make sure this is truly bipartisan," said Richardville, who added the bill isn't dead and would be reviewed by a summer work group.

To use an extremely overused cliche, Randy Richardville did nothing more this week than to "kick the can down the road".

If he really wanted Obamacare Medicaid Expansion in Michigan to die, all he really needed to do was to put it up, along with the future careers of many in his caucus, a vote on the Senate Floor.

All of this pussyfooting around does nothing more than allow him to save face for about two months time, giving them ample opportunity to do some political arm-twisting and hash out behind the scenes the best way to foist this debacle on Michigan Taxpayers, while providing as much job security to the fence sitters as possible.
