You didn't include the ending to this touching story. John Engler took over the Detroit school system and 5 years later, had accomplished nothing other than misspending a billion dollar bond proposal, propping up leaders on the school system who were later found to be corrupt and fostering a system without oversight that has led to the charges being made today. I wonder why people in Detroit might think that a state takeover of the schools isn't such a wonderful thing?
