Remember, this is a Dem seat in a Dem district... (none / 0) (#6)
by Nick on Thu Jun 18, 2009 at 03:07:00 PM EST
Nofs is right on 70, 80 percent of the issues.  Every time.

It's nice and fine and awesome and EASY to sit back and demand a staunch 100/100 conservative in every seat across the board.  Unfortunately, electoral math doesn't work that way.

It is often said that politics is the art of compromise.  Well, politics is also the art of the possible.

You'd prefer a 100/100 Righty?  So would I!  Unfortunately, we don't have a 100/100 Righty in this District who has a snowball's chance of upsetting the 8/100 Dem.

Nofs' background, his credentials and his geography make him UNIQUELY suited to win this seat.

Remember, a pick-up like this is like a head-to-head game between first and second place teams in a pennant race.  Winning is great but it also means your opponent is losing.

A Nofs pick-up represents, effectively, a TWO VOTE shift when it comes to the 70 percent of issues where he'll be right and Griffin will be wrong.  Also represents a TWO VOTE shift when it comes to organizing and selecting members of leadership.  Nofs will vote for the pro-life, pro-security, pro-second amendment, pro-growth, pro-freedom candidate for Senate Majority Leader.  Griffin won't.

Accepting... no... ACTIVELY SUPPORTING a Nofs candidacy doesn't mean you're bailing on principles, watering down your pro-freedom commitment or abandoning the RIGHTY cause.  It means you're a pragmatist with the good sense to realize what is possible, what isn't and to seize unique opportunities when they arise.
