Only good for the young and healthy? Not quite. (none / 0) (#60)

    Since I've addressed 1 and 2, I'll address 3.

HSAs/HDHPs (hopefully you will read how you are confusing the terms in my other comments) are one of the fastest growing plans being chosen by people who are 55 - 65. (After that a "public option" takes over nearly the entire market.) There is plenty of research out there about how older folks and people who have to pay for ongoing care utilize a HSA/HDHP combo, if only we care to look.

Not only that, but HSAs/HDHPs tend to have a greater focus on preventative care, making healthy lifestyle choices and they push down health care costs. When the government does these things they're good, but when HDHP/HSA pairings do them, they're bad?

Insisting that everything government does is good is as dangerous as insisting that everything they do is bad.
