    New Ideas (none / 0) (#7)

I don't have a problem with new and innovative ideas.  After all, necessity is the mother of invention.

However, what I have a problem with is the fact that once the Government dictates that we must use a specific product, all work ceases to improve that product.

As an example, I will point out the toilets now required in the United States.  The purpose of the regulation was use less water and energy.

However, the toilets now require two or more flushes, so where's the water and energy savings?

Additionally, once the Government requirement was 'met' by manufacturers, they discontinued all work to improve upon the toilet, so we're all stuck using a regulated sub-standard item.

The same thing will happen with the goofy light bulbs.  They are ugly. They provide poor lighting quality, and they practically require a haz-mat team to show up if broken.  Now that the manufacturers have 'met' the Government requirement, will anyone bother to improve upon the product?  Likely not, and we will be forever stuck with that ridiculous light bulb.

    Just sayin'!
