    In this case, I don't feel that you're wrong. (5.00 / 1) (#7)

If you've read my initial post in this, while I don't share Warren Buffet's interesting take on redistributionalist philosophy (take and redistribute OTHER people's money, but don't touch mine), this "benefit" is most definitely unheard of in the private sector and should never have been allowed in the first place.

This is also treading into a constitutional issue of this being an ex post facto law. I still feel that at the very least, ALL currently serving elected officials should've taken an ax to their bennies as a show of leadership regarding budget restraint, after all this group did feel it necessary to stick us with an income tax hike.

What I will give Rep McMillin credit for is manning up and telling why this bill went the way that it did.

    Remember this:

"well, this may sound like just another politician...but i need to be careful, because i'd like some of my ideas/bills to get through the senate in the coming months."

I've already had some of the "-d"'s verify that reason played a major role in many of the supporting votes for this bill's passage.

I may not like it. But at least I can respect the fact that he was at least upfront about it, and in a public forum like this.
