Who are the NERD fund donors Mr Snyder?

    Raise the curtain.

Well, you can either... (none / 0) (#9)

...maintain your neighborhood standards, let 'er turn into an inner-city dunghole, or move to further outlaying communities.

'Cause I don't know where you've been for the past 10 years but Detroit is a punch-drunk boxer that just hasn't been allowed to hit the canvas yet.  Snyder, Bing and another problem, Robert Ficano, aren't going to save it.  Ficano needs to be prosecuted before the convenience of illness happens to him like his mentor Ed McNamara.

Detroit is an unchanging culture that is going out with a whimper...

...and thanks to folk like Snyder and Bing, also with as much of your tax dollars it can pilfer.

The ghetto is already there, my friend. (none / 0) (#10)

I have family and friends living along Eight Mile so I already know the answer to that question.

You have people moving into neighborhoods and not taking care of their property (i.e. not mowing their lawn in over a month, large loud parties until 3-4 in the morning, not fixing things wrong with their house).

You have the adjacent school districts turning into daycare centers for unruly students (read: future "guests" in the Michigan Department of Corrections) who are not accustomed to teachers keeping order in their classroom. And this is at the elementary level.

My personal favorite was when I spoke to a lawyer friend of mine taking are of business recently. There was a case before theirs in which a resident who recently moved in from of Detroit was charged with discharging a firearm into the air on his property. The defendant's response when the judge asked him for his side of the story? "Well, you honor, I did that all the time back in Detroit 'n' none said athing." (No, this is not a misspelling)

Offering Detroit to our neighbors to the south would be an insult to them.
