An interesting debate in our own backyard...

I don't normally plug individual political events going on across the State here on the site but that doesn't mean that's been the right call.  In fact, as we get going here into the election year you can expect some sort of regular calendar of events update on Right Michigan to direct you not only to the big rallies and speeches but also to the volunteer and campaign events that'll make the difference between winning and losing in November.

And in the meantime, there is one event in particular that a lot of folks might find particularly interesting.  This Wednesday Michigan State University will host a debate over global warming featuring one of Al Gore's pet climate scientists and a Senior Fellow from the Competitive Enterprise Institute.  (You can sign up or get more details about the event HERE.)

    Read on...

With the governor's sudden and recent emphasis on alternative energy sources (complete with multi-billion dollar tax hikes to fund development) it's an increasingly interesting topic here in Michigan.

On the left they'll have Peter Sinclair, a long time "advocate for environmental concerns" in the Great Lakes region.  Since 2007 he has been a presenter on Climate Change issues for Al Gore's Climate Project.

Then in the other corner they'll welcome Christopher Horner, an attorney who's represented CEI as well as scientists and Members of the U.S. House and Senate on matters of environmental policy in the federal courts including the Supreme Court. He is the author of "The Politically Incorrect Guide to Global Warming and Environmentalism", which spent half of 2007 on the New York Times bestseller list.

I know when I think "fun" the first thing that pops into my mind is usually "I wonder if anyone's sponsoring a debate on global warming?"  OK, so maybe that's a slight exaggeration, but it should be an interesting event right here in our own backyard.
