Considering the dismal state... (none / 0) (#1)

...of Michigan right now, being at Comic-con should make anyone happy.

But glancing over to the right, I couldn't help but notice the blog about The Macomb Daily's bashing of the proposed budget cuts.

I think the reason why they're so mad is that Messers. Kelley, Kish and Ewald need some serious mental help.

Based upon their own reporting/editorials, they cannot decide if Macomb County needs a tax hike?

Or if Macomb County doesn't need a tax hike?

    I'm guessing bipolar.

... a philosophy to work here, a governmentalist mindset.  If you believe that your government mechanism is the matrix holding society together (rather than just a few necessary islands of control), taxes are OF COURSE the only way to deal with a deficit.  The alternative, to cut the size and cost of government, would loosen anarchy upon the world.

A discussion on this topic of mandating coverage for elective abortion in health care is taking place over at Michigan Liberal.  Some of the pro-abortion crowd hijacked a diary posted by Rep. Barb Byrum about insurance.  One of them claims it is hypocritical for pro-Lifers to have children of their own rather than raise someone else's kids in foster care if they support adoption.  One had to wonder by the same logic if he believes it is hypocritical of pro-abortion people to have children of their own rather than an abortion given how they believe over-population is destroying the planet.

Some of the comments made here are just as bad and worse.  Nick's statement yesterday, for example, that a $10/hour wage was "astronomical".  Or the tea parties where there are several hundred people holding up posters calling for smaller government and less spending yet not one of them calling for cuts to any program that would produce substantial savings.  My conclusion is that the farther one gets from the political center and the more partisan they are, the stupider their arguments become.
