Who are the NERD fund donors Mr Snyder?

    Raise the curtain.

    Worthless Paper-Pushers

It's been all over the local and national news. Rush Limbaugh even chimed in today before his 1 pm break on the matter.

The State of Michigan decided to issue a letter to Lisa Snyder warning her to stop looking after her neighbors' children as they waited for their school bus to arrive. Seems the bureaucrats in Lansing believe this constitutes running a daycare without being properly licensed by State regulators.

Ms. Snyder, who lives in the Middleville area of Barry County, MI, ceased doing her neighbors the favor and immediately contacted the Lansing busy-bodies to make sure they wouldn't haul her off to the hoosegow.

This not-so-little episode in Lansing bone-headedness brings up all sorts of issues. Everything from parental rights to the proper role of government in our society and how it approaches its bosses - and by "bosses" I'm referring to YOU and ME, you know, the people these bureaucrats are supposed to answer to.

Very few will put up a serious argument that there should be no government regulation of daycare. Clearly, there is room for abuse that needs to be monitored and avoided. But is it proper for this oversight to come from the state government? Is this one of those responsibilities that might best be handled on a local level?

I've dealt with State bureaucrats at the DEQ in the past so please forgive me if I sound a tad jaded. But my personal experience has been that these knuckleheads have all the power and all the incentive to mess with you. It's my unsolicited opinion that the pinheads at DEQ have no concern for the environment. Their only priority is power and how they get to wield it.

There may be a few do-gooders at the Department of Human Services in Lansing who really do care about the well-being of our most vulnerable citizens. But this story concerning Ms. Snyder is likely not the exception to the rule. Instead of looking at issues on a case-by-case basis and utilizing some level of common sense in how it approaches these matters, these faceless, nameless paper-pushers just zip off a threatening letter intended to terrorize you into submission. And for most of us, there's virtually no recourse. Ms. Snyder got lucky. Her situation was so egregious that the press couldn't ignore it.

But this story is one of only thousands that point to a State government entirely out of control. What's worse than that? Try a federal government hell-bent on controlling virtually every aspect of your life. That future is on your immediate horizon.

Oh, by the way, who was the busy-body jerk of a neighbor who apparently phoned in a complaint about Ms. Snyder to DHS? What kind of snotty freak must you be to make such a call? Nice act of cowardice by that piece of human debris.

... with this mentality it will only be a matter of time before those of us who regularly drop off food at the homeless shelters will be hauled in for not have the proper food handling permits.  What is that saying..."no good deed goes unpunished"  Certainly true in this case.

But isn't it rather strange that DHS has plenty of time to investigate this but not enough time to actually protect children that are at risk. How many children have been killed from abuse because the CPS division has failed time and again to do it's job? I believe we are up to eight at last count. I know from experience that when CPS is alerted to an issue they could care less. Having reported this sort of thing myself. The so called investigator arrived at the home ( three weeks after the report was made), never went inside, never asked to see the children and just chatted with the man of the house for the grand total of five minutes. The State Police and Sheriffs department had also reported these individuals and CPS did the same marvolous job. I guess it depends on the priorities set by the powers that be and that would I believe be the Governor. My question to her is has anyone been fired in any of these cases where abuse was reported and children died as a result of CPS incompetence? From what I know that answer to that question is no.
