when did our sitting US senators forget what is of critical consequence to Michigan?  At what point did the fat globules break loose and stop the flow of blood to the brains of Senators Levin and Stabenow?  Do they understand, or even CARE about the business and manufacturing communities in Michigan who use electricity as a part of the creation of goods?

If you though it was bad already be prepared for "bad" multiplied by ___<--Insert large number here.

Carl Levin and Debbie Stabenow had an opportunity to stand up for Michigan, and its economic interests, and the jobs of its residents.  They had a chance in a vote held yesterday to say to the EPA, that CO2 is NOT a pollutant to be regulated by the agency, particularly in light of the climate-gate scandal that demonstrates the science was never truly settled. They had a chance to demonstrate they actually are paying attention to those developments showing the climate change "science" to be a fabrication of grant seeking opportunists willing to exchange their souls for a few coins.

Let me get your imaginations started on what MUST happen now that the regulatory beast of the federal government has been given new freshly sharpened teeth.

    If you drive a car..
Your fuel cost will be "necessarily increase." And while the more unwilling to learn the truth among us will be cursing the oil companies for their "greed", the federal government will be using the higher cost you pay to give to other energy concerns to subsidize THEIR creation.

Are you one of the poor?
This affects you disproportionately, as fuel is a greater part of your weekly expense.  But No matter..  The Government will step in and give you a stipend.. As long as you submit to their conditions.

    If you own a business..
You will need to buy another license.  This one will assure the federal government that you do not use more energy than is allotted to you.  You will of course be saddled with the expense of adding special meters that provide the needed information to the regulatory arms of the EPA so they know how much energy you are using, and your carbon footprint.  How else would they know how much of a bill to send you at the end of the year for overages?

    If you are a manufacturer..
Never mind the cost that you must add to the product you make.  You will be paying the added electrical generation costs the coal plants will be charging (energy is somewhat fungible, so even if you are on a nuclear grid it will reflect those costs)AND you will be paying a fee for carbon output based on your license and usage.  Further, you will have regular regulatory inspections to ensure your manufacturing processes are green.

    IF you are a farmer..
Unless you are using a mule team, your costs of tilling and producing the food for a nation will be increasing. Certain sized farms will likely be targeted for carbon use, and Animal farms will see themselves target with the next step of emissions limitations. You might as well kill all your livestock now.

Are you a trucker?  Shipping or transportation specialist? Delivery service?
Consider what your primary expense outside labor is.. FUEL.

And if you live in a house, or are a homeowner..

Changes to your existing residence will require a compliance update for the reporting of electrical use to the grid, and for the EPA.

    Am I being glib?

Consider all the things that have happened in the last year and a half, that seemed unimaginable a mere five years ago.  Consider we have a President who straight out said that the Coal burning plants would be necessarily bankrupted with a carbon tax and cap plan.  Yet he supports it.

    He wants it.

And now OUR Senators, Levin and Stabenow have voted to help make it happen.  And not through a courageous vote up or down by a legislative process, but one that makes way for unelected bureaucrats to rain on the parade of the nation's people permanently, and with little ruination to their own political ambition.

They KNOW they could not get this type of cap and trade action passed through a legislative process now..  Not with the people paying attention as they are in this cycle like no other.  They also think we will forget by the time 2012 rolls around.

I wont forget.  You best not forget.

In the mean time, the only way to completely drain the power from the swamp we know as Washington is for this cycle to go out and find those other US Senate races and support the most conservative candidates.  Give them money, offer to make phone calls, elect an opposition to the tyranny that has now been blessed by the votes of two irresponsible Michigan Senators.

The blessings that will finish the job Granholm has started here, by people who just don't get it.

energy to the push to repeal the 17th Amendment that turned Senators from being representitives of the respective states into Party Hacks like the aforementioned Stabs-us-now and Karl Lenin. It also should be ample proof that term limits need to be implemented for all Federal offices, appointed or elected. Both of these Neandrothals need to be sent someplace other then the District of Corruption. Both are crooks and both are wrong for Michigan. The pair are the two most ineffective Senators this state has ever had. Name one piece of important legislation that either of them has authored that has become law and naming Post Offices doesn't count.

Since the seventeenth amendment, a Senatorial position is now only for the goal of personal power and enrichment. They can run "sidebar" campaigns tied to nothing else but an ideological agenda. Our two, and I use the word loosely, "Senators" could care less about their responsibilities and ties to our state, in fact, there are situations where U. S. Senators work federally to undermine the very issues that the legislature from the very state they're supposed to be representing , and they thumb their noses. As the founders intended, their bosses need to be the people's representatives of their respective states, not special interests and pandering. Repeal the 17th. Then, and only then will we have regained their Senatorial respect.
