Job Description and Qualifications: A governor is the chief executive of a state, similarly to how the president is the chief executive of the country. Specific duties for governors are defined by each state's constitution, but commonly, they sign bills into law, propose budgets, and see that state agencies are staffed and operating as directed by law. Also, a governor is the commander of his or her state's national guard.

    Candidates for Governor must:

Have lived in the United States for at least 5 years
Have lived in Michigan for at least 2 years
Be at least 30 years of age
Not hold another elected State or Federal office while they serve as Governor

    Candidates for Governor should:

    Be of good moral character
Show a record of common sense decision making
Have private-sector leadership experience of some kind
Possess a good understanding of the challenges facing Michigan
Present common sense solutions to restore Michigan
Be a leader of influence and work well with others

    VERY good site (none / 0) (#1)

    I'm surprised at several things:

First, that Mike Cox didn't answer any video questions.

Two, that Rick "The King Nerd" Snyder DID answer video questions.

Three, Stacey Mathia makes all the GOP candidates look like flaming liberals.

Four, that The Center for Michigan didn't bother to include Mrs. Mathia in any of their debates.

    {no, not really}

It's sad that I find out about a candidate like that at the end of the campaign season.

OABTW, Mrs. Day, why did you not include her in your poll?

    A couple of things (none / 0) (#2)

First- Stacey Mathia declined to interview only because she doesn't have a primary. She was given the opportunity to. I left her off the poll for the same reason.  She is included in the list of websites and pics on the site.

Second, Mike Cox did interview, but the sound didn't work. We are taping it again tomorrow and will have it posted tomorrow night. He is being a good sport to re-do the interview and we are thankful.

    Thanks for the feedback!

    Fair enough. (none / 0) (#3)

It strikes me as odd that someone running for Governor does not want to generate any name recognition, but do you know if she will be answering any questions after August?

I've found what she has on her blog and website to be very encouraging positions for our next governor. I'm hoping that she's running as an actual candidate though, instead of a paper one.

Having had a few minutes to watch the videos (none / 0) (#5)

I must say this is a GREAT way to hear the candidates in their own words!

    Great Job Wendy!
