Who are the NERD fund donors Mr Snyder?

    Raise the curtain.

    Vote Libertarian?

    As Corinthian Scales put it:

Seriously, why have Republican Light when the original Progressive is available?

I'll take neither. Bouchard or Hoekstra I would be happy to vote for. Snyder, nuh uh. I'm thinking LP for the general, kids.

I disagree with the LP usually on two things, defense and how they handle immigration, but at least you know what you're gonna get before hand. Also, at least the guy who's running for guv, Ken Proctor, served in the Army.

The guy looks to live in Charlotte, real close to Grand Ledge where my Natty Guard unit is, so if possible, I'd like to see if I could get a hold of him and possibly see about doing a recorded interview and possibly trying to "smooth" the views on defense and immigration... or at least just to get a recorded interview so people can actually see what the guy would be about.

    Stay tuned?

    -Jason Jr.

P.S.: Props to pops for winning the County Commission primary :D

I think defense and immigration are non-negotiable.

Of course I'll stay tuned! Not only do I appreciate what you have to say, it will be interesting to see what you come up with.

    Yeah, props to Pops!!!!!!!!!

A few things are running in my head.

With Snyder, I can't get past the $2000 to prop 2, the outsourcing under his watch, the fiscal liberal ties, and the inability to answer questions in something besides political speak. Those made him my last choice in the primary. If Hoekstra, Bouchard, or George won, I would have made my endorsement immediately.

Possibly in Rick's favor is redistricting. That's a big one.

Rick has to earn my vote, or get lucky and have Bernero piss me off to the degree John Kerry or Barack Obama did. I normally would not vote for a McCain, and I had my problems with Bush in 04 as well.

Going against Rick is Bush. I took one for the team in 04, and caved in 2000 before I was a Republican. I also saw the shape Bush left the party with his fiscal leftism.

Rick Snyder can earn my vote by giving me solid fiscal conservative pledges and plans. If he's the nerd he claims to be and not just a corporate boardroom politician, he can show me a plan for implementation. If he fails to deliver specific plans, I will fail to vote for him.

The ball is in his court.

    I am certain I'll never vote again for (none / 0) (#5)

this group from this ticket. This is unforgivable and selfish. Where are the adults. What about all the people surrounding these guys. The many people around couldn't see the writing on the wall and speak out!?! What the...so, unless there is someone in charge of them (GOP coming in and getting a deal) none of them can be counted on to do the RIGHT thing or sacrifice for the people and this state.

Completely unacceptable. The numbers don't lie, it was avoidable.

"Elections have consequences" is the phrase I've heard so much of late. I've also seen many who scratch their head in wonder at the continued backing of a party regardless of how far away they go or how closely the particular politician acts like a liar/criminal or both.

One can wonder why the GOP seems to be able to conduct itself without consequences.

I got a reply from Ken, and he said he would be happy to do an interview.

No time is set, but I figure I'd see if people have any questions they would like me to bring up when I get the chance.

    The Libertarian option (none / 0) (#16)

Regarding Libertarians on <defense and how they handle immigration>, it seems to me that state governors have fairly minimal influence. On defense, a governor can't even keep his own state's National Guard from being sent overseas, if the president decides to. What effect, positive or negative, could governors have on national defense? Not much I can see, compared to far more consequential powers inside the state.
On immigration? Perhaps a bit more there, though still not that much- maybe some administrative action, if it's not blocked by outside forces. The best example there is Arizona. It remains to be seen whether governors can do anything at all, given federal court decisions. Suppose, worst case, Gov. Brewer had vetoed the state's new immigration law. Given popular feeling, would the veto not have been overturned by the legislature soon enough? Outside of being a spokesman/cheerleader for defense of the border, do governors have much power to do anything about immigration?
