In one of the worst kept secrets in Macomb County politics, it proves that it's not what you know, but who you know.
So, just who is this latest person to benefit from this time-honored axiom?

After leaving Macomb County's budget worse than when he first found it and failing in his latest bid for Michigan Senate last year, former Macomb County Board of Commissioner's Chairman Paul Gieleghem's future wasn't looking too bright.
Sure, he faithfully followed the orders of Macomb County Democratic Party Chair Ed Bruley. And what did he have to show for it? "So, Mr. Gieleghem, I see on your resume here that you failed to properly manage the budgets you were responsible for in the past, resulting in the imposition of unwanted tax hikes which resulted in the loss of respect of the people you purportedly serve." Who would want to hire a person with those creds? Macomb County Treasurer Ted Wahby -d, that's who. You heard correctly, true believers, the person who rammed through a 9% tax hike, is now working for the Macomb County Treasurer's Office in his new capacity of collecting taxes in Macomb County.
Irony can be pretty ironic sometimes.
