Michigan Senate Revives Corporate Welfare Scheme Governor Vowed to End

Bill authorizes $50 million from state for another electric car project

So, what happens with the Senates handout of $50 million in Michigan taxpayer money to Dow Chem partnered offshoot LLC's, now sits in the House Commerce Committee, or more pointedly, in its Chair, Rep. Wayne A. Schmidt's lap.  After witnessing the stellar job that Chair Wayne Schmidt has done with sitting on HB 4024 and HB 4026 for the past 11 months, what could possibly go wrong?

So, Tough Nerd, you got that veto pen of yours ready?

    My understanding.... (none / 0) (#1)

My understanding is that this bill actually reduces an already existing $100 million credit to $50 million.

It does not create a new credit.  That is why it is supported by Governor Snyder.

...but what business does Lansing have in granting ANY credits whatsoever?

Based upon the insider insight gleaned by comment, what this Republican Majority in Lansing is in essence is telling us is that a disastrous prior Republican Legislature that enabled a Jenny Green Job fantasy the privileged $100 million giveaway through a utopian Commerce and Tourism, and a New Economy and Quality of Life Committee exercise that has bound Michigan taxpayers to exorbitant costs as means of energy somehow has now found justification in half giveaways at the expense of the taxpayer.

That is absolutely obscene, and not the representation that I voted for in 2010.  The namby-pamby action of Lansing to still barge ahead sticking taxpayers this time around with a reauthorization not paying for the fairy dust, but the unicorn p!ss for a known failed technology, for a failed prior LLC conglomeration Wixom agreement, operating under the same venture capital umbrella is beyond an insult.  On top of that, another obscenity in this theft of taxpayer money includes the perpetuation of bullsh!t battery cars and its obstructively uncompetitive infrastructure subsidy that was rightfully so mocked here on RightMichigan.

The $50M of taxpayer money squandered on a very highly doubted $66M return projected over 10 years is a bust at best.  3.2%?  If my financial adviser ever showed me that kind of return, yes, even in these such trying times, why I'd bounce his ass to the curb for being incompetent and completely useless.  Same applies to my representation who dare take it upon themselves to decide that government involvement into the free market rules the day.

This all amounts to a much similar Big Government, Snyderholm MEDC press release of "job creation" bought and paid for by us, the taxpayer.

    Republicrats.
