As we have seen, there are a number of folks being talked about as potential opponents for the 2012 Michigan US senate race.

    This just popped up.

We certainly could do worse. FYI Clicking on the image above will bring you to the 'draft Saul page'. Before going overboard on criticisms, either due or not, lets talk about our alternatives.  There will be a few more names added to the list before the end of this year, so lets look at the different possibilities.

Whomever it might be, might want to look at the doubling of her staff expenses over the last 10 years.  Her failure to protect Michigan small farmers by supporting SB510, and then the audacity to accept a major AG appointment as a reward for her dis-service.  Perhaps even the freakish disregard for the Manufacturing sector and working poor of the state, by assuming a role which puts easily accessible and CHEAP energy out of reach.  You know.. the low hanging fruit.

And that is just a start.  But I digress..  Good Luck Saul!

Um...well, I will support a conservative first.  To me, Terri Land would be the winning candidate that not only conservatives could rally behind but can also win in 2012.

I don't see how a divisive person like Anuzis who has a bloated and arrogant ego could stand a chance against Stabenow. Let's not repeat the 2006 and 2008 election cycles and throw away this rare opportunity we have in 2012.

Yeah, that is all we need. (none / 0) (#2)

     "We certainly could do worse."
But we can do a hell of a lot better. My issue with Saul is he is to much like the rest of the party elites. They know best. Hence we ended up with McAmnesty for a nominee running against Dear Leader and the Nerd who is a McCain clone as governor. With a record like Sauls the last thing we need is another unreliable vote in the US Senate. We have to damned many now. If the RSCC had their way we would have added several more unreliable votes in that body. Can anyone say Charlie Crist? As it is we ended up with Dan Coats and Mark Kirk to go along with McAmnesty, Grahmnesty, Snowe, Collins, Hatch, Lugar and others. I would not at all be in favor of this candidacy. I will reserve my support until I see who is interested and who might be the best CONSERVATIVE in the field. And there are always third party types on the ballot. If the GOP learned a lesson from 2010 it will be to follow the Reagan model and nominate and run CONSERVATIVES. It works everytime it is tried.

    would be the first comments.

But I will repeat something I have said before.  Early in the tea party movement, Saul signed on.  Like a lot of the politicians who realized the power of an awakened electorate, Saul became immediately more supportive.  Calling it opportunistic?  Perhaps.  Could it also be that some things avail themselves when appropriate and possible?

In all fairness, if he is the guy who raises enough capital and survives through the primary process, then he will be the guy to support.  If the half dozen other names being bandied about produce a different result, then we will have to see at that point.  Lets save the hyperbole for those who REALLY deserve it however.

    ...fair enough.

I understand that Terri Lynn Land has (or soon will be) a potential candidate.

And to echo the comparisons to McCain/democrat-lite (not to mention the potential comparisons with Snyder, whenever he decided to actually take a stand on an issue) on the Republican side, what are our options from the US Taxpayer Party? Libertarians? Or any other independents worth taking notice of?

I haven't heard anything yet from their respective camps.

People are a little too eager to place their support behind someone with a "-r" after their names, regardless of where they really stand on issues.

Mike Hucksterbee. Hucksterbee gloamed onto the Fair Tax and the Tea Party because he knew that is was an uprising of WE THE PEOPLE. But if you look at his record as Governor of Bubba land you find he was a tax and spend RINO going happily along with whatever the Commie Lib Progressives wanted. Understanding the real feeling about the Tea party folks held by the party elites, if one of them says he is for our movement I am very suspect of their motives.
As far as Terry Lynn Land goes. NO WAY. She proved herself to be totally worthless when she was investigating the money laundering scheme that Marky Mark Schauer and other Dimwitocrats ran. She dragged her feet long enough that Marky Mark won election to the US House and helped Dear Leader pass his Marxist agenda. It took way longer then it should have. My other question is why in hell none of those criminals were charged under Federal law and jailed upon conviction. Their action was willful and illegal. Yet they are guilty as hell and free as a bird, to quote Dear Leaders BFF Bill Weatherman Ayers. Maybe a little scratch my back and I will do the same going on? Nope, no Saul and no Terry Land.
