Who are the NERD fund donors Mr Snyder?

I just wanted to pass along a story that brought a smile to my face this morning.

    {Details below.}

By now, most people are familiar with the antics of the disgraced former mayor of Detroit and his clan.

According to today's Detroit News, after his very brief stint in the pokey for violating the terms of his parole, AG Schuette is going after the Kwame Kilkpatrick for the time spent as the guest of the State of Michigan, or about $12,750.

Granted, it isn't much for his very brief stay at the luxurious G. Robert Cotton Correctional Facility, but it's a start.

Had the previous AG done his job, none of this would have been necessary. But what's done is done.

One more interesting note to pass along was a quote he made in The Michigan Citizen this week:

"I have never stolen a damn dime from anybody in my life. I never embezzled or misappropriated public funds. So, I want to talk to Detroiters about the truth ... I want to talk to Detroit about who I am and what I did. I served this community with everything I had ... if you want to meet me, it's going to be just like the campaign in 2005. I will come to your house. The next generation of Detroiters cannot be railroaded in this system that I have seen first hand."

So, y'all's boy didn't steal, huh? Before the PC-lurkers from those other sites accuse me of something, it should be pointed out that those aren't my words, they are from his own mother.

Do the words: Lincoln Navigator ring a bell?

How about that whistleblower lawsuit in which you tried to keep your paramour out of the public's eye?

Or, that scam in which you and your friends overcharged Macomb County Taxpayers for sewer repairs?

I've got pages of this stuff, but I'll make this brief.

    Thank you again, AG Schuette.

With the FBI's case coming up shortly (and it isn't looking too good for for the former disgraced mayor and his family...maybe they can get lucky and get adjoining prison cells), this sad chapter can at least see some closure.

to AG Schuette and to you for reminding us of Thugmaster-K and his unique brand of corruption, and what spawned it.

Ya know its the sheer acceptance of corruption as normal that has destroyed what used to be the jewel of the country.  Corruption all too easily associated with labor (note the purple shirts in that crowd) and with an eagerness to not challenge folks of color to a higher standard for fear of appearing racist.

Jesse Jackson, and Al Sharpton?  The spirit of Detroit belongs to you.

Detroit can do better,  It must.

OK, at what cost? (none / 0) (#2)

KG, please don't view this as an anything ill directed towards you.  It is not.  Your heart is in the right place.  I'm just raising the question here, and am fully expecting a sh!tstorm for doing so, but what is the bottom line figure for AG Schuette and his staff to go after $12K?  Is it break even?  A net loss?

Sorry, but the only ones I see making a buck on this $12K thing is the gaggle of ambulance chasers on both sides that pick at and mend Kwame's scabs in the press.  The more it's done, the more it just goes towards endearing Kwame to the ingrained "Y'alls boy" inhabitants at large in the City of Detroit.  Is that $12K worth that?

For me, it's a shame to see our new AG haggling over a $12K what's done is done; it's grandstanding on top of a foolish squandering of my coerced tax dollars that could be allocated on more productive matters concerning us taxpayers.

I'm also somewhat disagreeable on the assessment of the previous AG.

Mike Cox is directly responsible with forcing the legal hand on what everyone in this state wanted to happen.  First and foremost, Mike Cox removed Kwame from Office, while also hanging a felony on him in the process.  Mike Cox pulled his offered plea and Kwame blinked.  That big cajone move saved state taxpayers a sh!tload of coin in court costs with a wild card jury of his peers, and spared the state the ongoing Hip-hop Mayor national black eye.  There is not another damned soul in this state or nation that can lay claim to that fact.  Nobody.

If you ask me, that is $12K well spent by the state just to be free of the bastard for the time that we all were.  Freedom isn't free applies sometimes here too I reckon.  Most accept that fact if they've ever had personal dealings in our cumbersome legalese world of justice we've evolved into.

    Mike Cox, thank you again.

However, this new regime $12K haggling... very petty.  I expect better in the future.

    That is just my 2¢

Do with it what y'all will.
