Jennifer Granholm was a lot of things, but a tax cutter? No.  Neither was she effective at blowing us away in a good sense in the 5 years she had pledged to do.

Her economic development sense is not only deficient, but dangerous if anyone takes her seriously.  Her desperation to be seen as better than she was showed up as a comment on a blog as referenced by the CapCon story linked above.

That comment? It was a reply to another knucklehead who cherry picked positive numbers from a recent fiscal presentation by the Senate Fiscal Agency. Those numbers of course without the benefit of comparative perspective or further analysis. Analysis that demonstrates even more succinctly the total failure that was a near decade of governor Jennifer Granholm. The couple of items to note being stated this way:

"The facts as laid out in the SFA report are the complete opposite. An era of remarkable - almost certainly unprecedented - spending restraint. State spending from all state resource in FY2002 (the Engler Administration's last year) was $26.087 billion. In FY2011 (the last Granholm Administration budget) it was $26.050 billion. For the general fund (what everyone focuses on) it went from $9.189 billion to $8.280 billion. Nearly a billion dollar reduction. And for school aid from $11.220 billion to $10.776 billion."

And he called it restraint. What it truly is should be seen as more of a problem.

In 2003, there was a roughly $12 Billion FEDERAL outlay for Michigan expenditures.  In fiscal year 2008-2009 it was about $22 Billion, and 2009-2010 (Granholm's last budget) it was $20 Billion.

This is not the effect of restraint, but rather the sellout of Michigan into a dependency on more federal support.

But wait there is more!! (below)

There was a claim that Michigan income is up.

    Well golly gee SUPER!!

    Uhh.. wait

What does that fine print say?

    Less than..  Hey wait-a-minute!!

According to the un remarked upon part of the study is the FACT that:

"Michigan personal income has increased by 24.1% over the past decade. The total level of personal income in the United States has increased by 53.9% since calendar year 1999. Personal income has grown by 39.1% in Indiana, 43.0% in Illinois, 32.8% in Ohio, and 43.4% in Wisconsin over the same time period. Michigan's personal income growth was the slowest among 50 states."

    Right.

I thought that is what it said.

Certainly Granholm's economy mirrored the rest of the country however, correct?

Also, it should be noted Michigan GDP from 2003 to 2010 was 6%!  Woo hoo!! By golly growth is good!  So no one can say that our girl Jenny failed in her mission to bring growth to the great state of Michigan during her term. Err, technically anyhow.

The rest of the country experienced growth of 31% in the same time period.

AND .. it should be noted that Michigan is included in that averaging scheme.  Given its still considerable economy, the weight of Michigan is akin to cement shoes and swimming lessons.

    Oh right, speaking of unions,

Let us not forget that she did all she could to pay back those union supporters by entrenching them further into government, and creating a phony educational need through Mott College (Mott by the way, never trained a single worker under this plan) for day care workers in an intra-local coagulation scam that forced unionization on thousands throughout the state.

Indeed, that type of criminal act (yes, I said it)is not the business conducive model one would expect from a Governor with a solid record of economic growth. Typically, rogue regimes with self serving dictatorial types at the helm fall into the corruption traps and are often rewarded with businesses fleeing such climates.  The Granholm capitulation to all things big labor was only eclipsed by her eagerness to get on the green-weenie bandwagon which finalized the unleashing of all things bad for economic prosperity.

So growth that is a 5th of the national average (including the downward impact of Michigan itself)  should come as no surprise under her "leadership."

No way Jennie.  You are not a tax cutter as you claimed. Nor were you restrained in your spending as the blogging libero-sycophant's ravings insinuated, that sparked your nonsensical reply.

You were just another thug, in a state run by thugs, doing thug's work and through your method of "investment" supporting the growth of more thuggery.

Your history is written, go away already.

...Berkley requires this of their employees?

Either the above or a bad knock to the noggin' are the only explanations I have for her bizarre behavior.

And just so we're clear here: republicans are no stranger to spending money recklessly either.

What will history say about Gov. Snyder, Speaker Bolger or Sen. Richardville when it looks back on their budgets?

How will their actions differentiate themselves between democrat and purportedly republican philosophies?

I don't see any discernible difference there?

    Do you?

    ...on this.

Despite headlines, the 2012 Michigan budget signed into law on June 22 actually hikes state spending by $758 million. In addition, a Senate Fiscal Agency analysis released last week understated this increase by leaving out so-called "one time" spending items (for example, $25 million for film subsidies, a figure that some lawmakers are already trying to increase).

Given all the news stories about "draconian cuts," many might be surprised by this news. Yet only after accounting for the winding down of federal stimulus money does the state's bottom line show a less costly government. In other words, when a new fiscal year starts in October, the state will be spending more money that's taken directly from taxpayers here, and less that comes from the federal government.

All for a budget $609 million less than the MoleRattler's?  And we get to maintain her Income Tax Rate just a scintilla less too?

Lansing Republicans, please, for the love of God, don't do me any more favors.
