Who are the NERD fund donors Mr Snyder?

Beggers Can Be Choosers ... Only in Detoilet

I know it's prolly wrong to enjoy the rattling death coughs of a failed Democratic Party social experiment, but it really warms the cockles of my heart on a lazy, blustery January day.

As the city nears financial collapse, owners erased at least $4.7 million in property taxes and liens this fall on more than 400 properties Wayne County appeared to sell back to them for pennies on the dollar, according to a Detroit News analysis.

That's double the number of buybacks found at 2010's Wayne County tax foreclosure auction. In many cases, no one else bids other than the former property owners, who can reclaim the properties for as little as $500 apiece.

The increase has a top aide to Mayor Dave Bing and others calling on Wayne County Treasurer Raymond Wojtowicz or the state Legislature to crack down.

"Unfortunately, some laws have loopholes, and in this case results in others exploiting matters for their personal advantage at the expense of responsible taxpayers and the city," Kirk Lewis, Bing's chief of staff, said in a statement.

"Legislative remedies must address and prevent the myriad of ways these property owners can scam the system for their personal gain."

State law allows Wojtowicz to ban owners from buying back their foreclosed properties. Macomb County officials did so this year, but Wojtowicz said it would be too hard to police in Detroit, where he sold a record 5,200 properties at October's auction.

But, but, whaaa?  Wait a minute.  I thought Detroiters didn't want any Lansing interference in their affairs.  Hmmmm...

But that's not tough enough because owners could buy them back after the two years, said state Sen. Tupac Hunter, D-Detroit, who has introduced bills that would ban tax delinquents from the auction.

"You will see the trend get worse and worse," Hunter said. "There is nothing in place to put them in check. People see they can take advantage of a situation with no penalty."

So, cutting through the BS of Sen. Hunter's omission excuse plea, the deadbeat City of Detoilet that's not willing to enforce Law available, now needs Lansing?  Macomb County doesn't, and not so fast with that "helping hand" thingy.

Yannow, our Republican Legislators would have to be certifiably insane if they choose to lift a finger with creating yet another special Law for Detoilet, for that matter, Ficano's Wayne County whose WCBDC is still under FBI investigation.

Understand my drift, Speaker Bolger and Majority Leader Richardville?  Learn from your numerous past mistakes, Hollow Men.

Dictatorial takeover of the city and violations... (none / 0) (#1)

    ...of civil rights.

I am getting so fed up by hearing the floaters trot out that sorry argument again and again.

And invoking Eric Holder's name when mentioning civil rights???

    But, I digress.

There was a great interview on Charlie Langton's show this morning with Brandon Jessup who is one of the <strike>instigators</strike> organizers of the petition drive behind PA-4.

When they went to the phone lines, someone called in with a great question that he just would not touch (click here and go to 3:15). He danced around the issue, but wouldn't give a direct answer.

    It's definitely worth a listen!

This was/is a fab post! Props to KC too! (none / 0) (#2)
