Rep Walberg Responds to Sec. Panetta's Statement on Syria

Panetta give a clue as to what is inside the heads of progressives and world apologists in our federal administration:
"As you go forward, will you consult with the United States Congress?"

Panetta replied, "You know, our goal would be to seek international permission. And we would come to the Congress and inform you and determine how best to approach this, whether or not we would want to get permission from the Congress."

Washington, D.C.- U.S. Rep Tim Walberg (R) MI-7 released the following statement after Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta's testimony before the Senate Armed Services about indicating that he would "seek international permission" before any action relating to Syria rather than asking Congress for such authority.

"I believe Secretary Panetta's comments to the Senate Armed Services Committee were telling.  This Administration doesn't appear to believe Congress is to be consulted when it comes to military intervention.  As we learned in Libya, the President did not deem the Constitution, the War Powers Act, or the U.S. Senate as a check on his ability to go to war. The President should remember that he is bound by the legal authority of the United States, not the "permission" of the international community that the Secretary alluded to in his testimony.  I'm glad that Secretary Panetta has since clarified his remarks, and I hope that before engaging in any future military conflicts the Administration puts our country ahead of the interests of the international community."

Comrade Panetta was a Reagan obstructionist long before he became a Clintonista document shredder.  In other words, a perfect fit within the current administration.

And not one in the Senate can walk away from their despicable deed.  Not. One.

Props to you U.S. Rep Walberg, for calling Secretary Pinko on the carpet.

You must be a very lonely man on The Hill...

Which makes what's going on in MI (thatSaul)even more of a pi$$er.

The hypocrisy is blatant, considering these people wanted to impeach W for invading Iraq.

    ...the Constitution they supposedly support.

For a president who has sworn similar oath (and was a Constitutional "scholar" to boot), he has a nasty habit of directing his underlings to enact his agenda through presidential fiat, rather than the proper channels like here, here and here.

The Congressman writes a very convincing press release.

I might believe him for once if he were to actually act upon it by requesting that impeachment proceedings be initiated for the very reasons he cited above. Being a Representative and a member of the "majority party", he's in a better position to do that, than those of us writing e-mails or calling the Congressional Switchboard.

Given the simple numbers advantage, if the rest of his party believes in what he wrote above, it should be only a formality.

Throw his base's own argument against him. let him defend his actions in Libya and soon-to-be Syria and Iran.

Let the MSM and the 99% Crowd chew on those facts, spin them as best they can and see where the chips lie.

Don't "hope" that the Administration puts America's interests first, do something about it!

    Not surprising. (none / 0) (#4)

Afterall, Panetta is just one of many Globablist on the left. When Associate Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg admitted that she and other left wing memebers of the SCOTUS consider international law before they resort to a Constitutional foundation that said a great deal.Add to that the fact that US law schools no longer teach Constitutional law but rather case law, both domestic and international. If you look at the current make up of the regime in power led by the POTUS (Poser on the United States) you find Carol Browner who was a member of a European Socialist Organization. Anita Dunn9she resigned and then the Poser hired her hubby) also a supporter of a single world government. So, what is the big surprise here. We saw the same garbage given as the reason not to invade Iraq. We didn't have the legal reason to invade. Never minde multiple UN resolutions authorizing military action going all the way back to the first term of Bubba the Gutless had been passed and accepted by the UN Security Council. Even when these dolts get what they say they want, they do their best to avoid doing what is best for America. They have to judge everything against a European or World template. Our ancestors came here to found a nation that wasn't European as I recall. At least mine did. Panetta, Holder and Obama need to be fired in Novemeber. Then investigated and tried for treason and other high crimes and misdomeaners.
