Who are the NERD fund donors Mr Snyder?

    Raise the curtain.

I don't think you get the reason for the season...

I few years ago on a bet at the behest of a friend, I was invited to go down into Midtown to attend an annual holiday event called Noel Night.

I didn't think much of it at the time, and didn't have anything better to do that night, so I tagged along.

I've been in Detroit many times in my life, and truth be told, wasn't really expecting much.

I was actually a little surprised at what I saw.

    {More after the fold.}

Organized by Midtown Detroit, Inc., instead of one of the chincy, easily regrettable and forgettable nights I've experienced more often than not in Detroit, there were a lot of interesting and fun things to do (more than can reasonably expected to be done during the 4-5 hours it lasts for).

Shows, concerts, vendors, crafts, things for kids put on at the Detroit Michigan Science Center, Detroit Historical Museum, Detroit Public Library there is a lot to keep people busy that evening.

And except for paying for parking, is all free.

I've been going back there ever since.

Now, at this point you're asking yourself: Okay, KG, since when did you become the tour promoter of The "D"?

Actually, this isn't exactly about the event, per se, but one of the participating vendors.

When I was going over the website for tonight, a late addition that is not on the hard copy of the brochure for 2013, but added to the website is, get this; Planned Parenthood Midtown.

Yes, nothing celebrates the birth of Jesus like a visit to your local PP center.

But that's not all. According to the website (Vendor Number 21):

"We will also have Certified Application Counselors on hand to answer your questions about the Affordable Care Act to help you decide what insurance plans are best for you and your family, and assist you to get enrolled in a plan on site! Stop in to get covered and get enrolled!"

Depending on how I feel tonight, I wonder if their "experts" can tell me why the cost that I pay for my coverage went up some 37% at work for next year?

Or, why I'm mandated into paying for coverage on things that I don't want?

Or, even if they fixed those security issues on Healthcare.gov website yet?

We'll see how much I'm in the holiday spirit tonight.

Indeed, but we are anticipating, and there is hope. Advent.

And Planned Parenthood is not about hope, so they are in the wrong place at the wrong time.  They ought not be there.

    Thanks for sharing this.
