Benzie Sheriff Receives Constitution Defender Honor

The Benzie county sheriff Ted Schendel, received the Constitution Defender Award yesterday at the Benzie County Commission meeting drawing applause from the 50 or so present.

The award is given to 3 or 4 each year, with a 'Grand Defender' being chosen from those, and announced during the annual constitution celebration event in Acme MI. This year's event is Sept 15.  The award reads:

"Has been recognized by the Constitution Celebration Committee and membership as a person of  indefatigable character,  who abides by the laws of our country, and defends with vigor, the principles of its founding by lawful means.

This persons' actions have had a positive impact on the community, and have promoted a better understanding of our founding documents through writings or actions and has shown  a willingness to resist usurpation of the rights granted by our Constitution.

This defender specifically represented his community as a 2nd amendment advocate, not when it was convenient, but as infringement by other authority was being advanced. He supported the United States Constitution through outreach and strength, with unfailing dedication towards preserving tradition for our children and beyond."

    Mr Schendel upheld his oath.

This video provides a pretty good explanation WHY this Sheriff was chosen.

    We thank him.

And the Benzie Sheriff is not alone.

    Below the fold ~

Sheriffs across the country are also upholding their oaths, and will continue to do so.

    CNS News reports:

"The Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association (CSPOA) has the support of 381 sheriffs and the cooperation of 15 state sheriff associations asserting they would not enforce federal or state gun laws they consider unconstitutional.

The list posted on the CSPOA website included sheriffs and associations from states that traditionally support Democrats, including Obama's home state, the Illinois Sheriffs Association."

    Good.

The president's press secretary fielded a question by CNS news, and responded as seen here:

    mmmmm-k..

As noted in the CNS News article, Sheriff Mack of Arizona had received a similar award for his stand and Supreme court challenge.

"Mack is the former sheriff of Graham County, Ariz., where along with six other sheriffs in 1994 he challenged the constitutionality of the provision of the federal Brady bill that sheriffs do the background checks. The Supreme Court ruled 5-4 to strike down the provision of the law placing the burden on local law enforcement.

Mack, who has previously won the NRA Law Officer of the Year, was inducted into the NRA Hall of Fame, and won the Gun Owners of America Defender of the Second Amendment Award, also contested Carney's point that "people ought to follow the law." Mack said that's not true if the law contradicts the Bill of Rights.

    Exactly.

We expect to see more sheriffs standing up for their communities in these trying times.

It is reassuring to have some so close to home however.

It's nice to know that at least one of them has the integrity to uphold their sworn Oath.

That is a pretty damn sad commentary on this state, though.  It's just the other 98.8% of the counties that look like Michigander a-holes.   Wow.  One sheriff, just one who clearly states (a wee tepid for my tastes, but whatever) what all Law Enforcement should publicly affirm daily to We the People it allegedly works for, and now another 82 sheriffs in Michigan, needing to do the same.

What'chu say, Detoilet mayoral candidate Napoleon, about RKBA?

Mmmmm-k, what 'bout you, darling of the Repubic Party, Mike Bouchard?  Cough .. 2nd Amendment .. Cough
