  • Your New Scoop Site

    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

"We were trying to do something thoughtful to honor President Coleman for her service to the university and athletic department and unfortunately the sound system backfired on us," athletic director Dave Brandon said in a written statement.

Backfired?  That's been happening allot around there, ya jackasses.

    And a "twenty pound carp."

All wonderful considerations made yesterday by voters all over the state of Michigan. Yes, the winner of attention, but sadly not the winner at the ballot box in Ann Arbor's 4th ward city commission race.

    Dang.

Ah, today offers another cry me a river drivel from the other liberal Detroit rag.

As a 9-year-old living near Tijuana, Mexico, Dayanna Rebolledo could stand on her tiptoes and peek over a fence at the United States. Across the fence was a safer country, a place where she could get a better education, a land of opportunity.

Now 21, having lived as an undocumented immigrant for 12 years in Detroit, Rebolledo wonders if she was wrong about that opportunity. She can't get a driver's license. She's attending Henry Ford Community College, but she won't be able to get a good job without a Social Security card.

"I don't know where my life is going to go," Rebolledo said.

Holy crap!  Can you imagine being in the adult world for three years, while attending a community college as an illegal alien and making a statement like that?  I can't.  Dayanna, and all others like her should be really, really p!ssed off at her parents.  They are the ones who chose through their own volition to be reckless gatecrashers without regard for their children let alone our American Laws.  Without sorrow, it's time to return to your motherland, Dayanna.  You've known that you didn't belong just like your parents who broke our Laws bringing you hear.

Luckily, Michigan is about to correct that problem.

It's heating up in Washtenaw County as residents get vocal about the November WISD Millage Proposal. The proposal would raise property taxes by two mills for five years and the funds would be distributed to Washtenaw County public schools on a per-pupil basis. Some reasons to vote NO tomorrow:

The unbalanced state budget. Cuts to school funds. 15% unemployment. The steady flow of residents leaving the state. A foreclosure rate rivaling only the speculator markets of Nevada, Florida, and the like.

Michigan is an exacerbated example of the woes facing the US economy-the poster child of how bad things can get.

There is one thing we can do that will have real impact on Michigan's economy and Michiganders' lives. Let's talk tax code.
