    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

    Send In The Clowns

No joke.  Dick Posthumus' decade old Lt. gov running mate just announced he's going write-in.

Yannow, with all the light that is being shined on the incumbent mentality within the Party establishment, they really are starting to make the AGW zealots and Earth Day kooks look a lot less insane by comparison.

This is all the more reason why I'd vote for Kerry Bentivolio.

Send Kerry a few jingle$ if you can, folks.  The Party is stacking the deck against him.

It's either fraud or massive incompetence and either one should be fatal running for Congress

Attaboy, Mike.  That's the "rules matter" Jarhead that folk like and respect.

    via The Detroit News

"No one has heard of anything so over the top before," echoed former Republican Attorney General Mike Cox. He added: "To have really overt massive potential fraud is really very unusual."

Secretary of State Ruth Johnson's office had turned over preliminary findings to Attorney General Bill Schuette's office, which won't comment. But Cox said investigators have tools working in their favor -- a stack of paper evidence, names and signatures of circulators and the power of an investigative subpoena to compel circulators to talk.

"Ruth and Bill are going to have to go to where the facts go, whether that leads them to (McCotter's staff) or to Thad," said Cox, who said he won't run as a write-in for the McCotter seat. He said his family and the McCotters are close, but now he is for "anybody but Thad."

    ...

But for nominating petition fraud, the sanctions spelled out in Michigan's election law are misdemeanors.

Someone who signs another's name on a petition, makes a false statement, or signs a petition as a circulator who is not faces up to a $500 fine and 93 days in jail.

Additionally, if the candidate or a petition circulator knew of such petition fraud and didn't report it to authorities, he is guilty of misdemeanor punishable by up to a $500 fine and one year imprisonment, under the law.

    Rest here

Isn't that just lovely?  Bottom line: We have a smarmy, career DC politico doofus from his specially redrawn District-11 who is now wasting our tax dollars on a misdemeanor witch-hunt that he is responsible for creating.

    Thanks, Thad.

A Message To Our Legislators - Beware False Choices

CD-11 Republican Candidate Kerry Bentivolio Goes Unchallenged?

What an awesome development.  Kerry Bentivolio (previously iCaucus endorsed), just may be the only Republican running in CD-11.  Presidential primary washout and Romney water carrier, Thesaurus McModerate, appears to not have collected the necessary 1,000 valid signatures to be on August primary ballot.

The shocking development could keep the five-term Republican U.S. House member from running again if he cannot convince the Michigan Secretary of State's office that he collected more than 1,000 valid signatures.

    Whooot!  My fingers are crossed.

Please, feel free to visit Mr. Kerry Bentivolio's campaign website by clicking, here.

Karen Jacobsen to Challenge 85-year-old Socialized Medicine Legacy Zealot

    via Dearborn Free Press

Joined by a large group of enthusiastic supporters at her home in Dearborn, Karen Jacobsen  announced her campaign for Michigan's new 12th Congressional District against John Dingell.

"As a mother, I am concerned about my daughter's future, and the future of her generation. As an Accountant and Business Owner, I am concerned about the future of our economy. I can no longer sit on the sidelines and just watch."
    ....

"Voters have a clear choice. If you believe our government is too big, that deficit spending is out of control and that career politicians no longer work for us, then I ask for your support. Our window of opportunity to reverse the course of this country is at a crisis point. If unchecked, Washington will continue to spend, borrow, tax, and print worthless pieces of paper. We have to stop this. I am running for Congress to tackle the most difficult problems facing our country. My campaign is about arming the people of Michigan with new information, new ideas and offering them the opportunity to elect a real advocate who will represent them in Washington."

Visit Mrs. Jacobsen's campaign website here.

To be exact, for Socialized Medicine to "control the people" it legislatively took the Dingell Dynasty from 1943 to March 23, 2010 to be accomplished.

Remember 2010 folks, John and Debbie Dingell directly profited from the Auto Bailout...

    Mitt's Bumpy Ride In Michigan

Mitt Romney's literature and signs have been at every Republican event for years.  He had quite an organization in 2008 with signs that said, "Michigan for Mitt," with the cute reference of the appearance of the lower peninsula being a mitten, and Mitt's name, well, it's just precious.

But here we are, 9 days from Michigan's Presidential Primary, which the GOP in Michigan moved up and lost half of it's delegates as a result, and now Mitt has to actually compete.

Mitt lost Iowa, Missouri, Colorado, South Carolina, and Minnesota, and may lose Maine.  He has so far won New Hampshire and Florida.

So as I read what is happening downstate and about how wonderful Mitt is, I noticed how the press says Romney has not defended the auto bailout, and that it will hurt him.   Michigan Republicans defend the auto-bailout because Michigan is the auto industry and it's too big to fail, etc.

But the auto rescue is an awkward issue in a state in which both Republicans and Democrats wholeheartedly supported it.

Even if he wins Michigan, Mr Romney will still be dogged by the auto rescue in the general election. Mr Patterson, a supporter, says: "That's something that Mitt is going to have to address."

Then I typed, "Mitt Romney supported auto bailouts," into my little google search thingy and I found out that he flip-flopped on that issue too.
