  • Your New Scoop Site

    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

The performance alone is worth listening to a couple times over.

Recovering from a fun weekend celebrating the greatest document in our country's history, I am feeling a little slow this morning.  This video is like coffee.  Black.

Maybe Gary Peters Should've Wrote Vladimir Putin

As we reach yet another debt ceiling, Gary Peters writes the "turn around" specialist-in-chief...

Rep. Gary Peters wrote President Barack Obama on Friday, calling on him to create a Detroit Interagency Task Force to help the Motor City rebound from its record-setting bankruptcy filing.

Peters, D[ouche]-Bloomfield Township, said a federal task force could help the city better use its federal funds.

"In Detroit's current fiscal crisis, we can foster an unprecedented collaboration between federal government oversight, private sector enterprise, and local civic leaders in order to find innovative ways to target both governmental and philanthropic resources in a transparent and data-driven manner," Peters wrote.

    Rest of the buffoonery here

If this is Lon Johnson's frilliant idea for publicity, he just turned off the rest of the state.

A Message To Our Legislators - Beware False Choices

Tim Walberg On Fast & Furious

    Just released

Washington, D.C.--House Oversight and Government Reform Committee member Rep Tim Walberg released the following statement regarding the Committee's approval of a resolution to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt for his refusal to turn over documents related to the Fast & Furious operation:

"Today's vote is part of the Committee's pursuit and my personal commitment to provide the family of fallen Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry, a native of Michigan, with answers on why their son was killed by guns in Operation Fast & Furious that had been allowed to "walk" into the hands of criminals. It gives me no excitement or joy, but after a series of accommodations made by the Committee, the Attorney General Holder and the Department of Justice continue to stonewall a Congressional investigation.

Despite being contrary to the Constitution and a century of case law, the Department of Justice thinks they can decide what documents we need and which ones we don't.  Attorney General Holder refuses to comply with a Congressional subpoena and won't even give the Committee a list of the documents he is withholding. Frankly, we don't know what we don't know.

Next week, the House will continue its pursuit of the truth by considering this contempt resolution on the House floor.  It is my hope that Attorney General Holder and the Obama Administration will realize the gravity of this matter and being complying with the subpoena so that we can bring clarity and justice to the family of Brian Terry."
