The Michigan attorney general's offices says Clayton waived her preliminary examination in Lincoln Park that was scheduled for Tuesday. The hearing determines whether there's enough evidence for a case to go to trial. She's now due for June 5 arraignment in Circuit Court in Detroit.

A message was left Tuesday with a lawyer for Clayton.

Amanda Clayton's attorney John Dakmuk is not saying if a deal is in the works with the state attorney general to keep his client free, but he said restitution has not been ruled out.

"I can't get into too much of the details of the case but we are looking forward to putting this case before the court and before the public. There's a lot more to this case than's been alleged at this point," Dakmuk told reporters.

The Michigan Welfare Rights Organization (MWRO), headed by Maureen Taylor, has been telling Detroit welfare recipients to occupy foreclosed homes around the city. "You can't imagine," Taylor told WWJ in Detroit, "when we get to work at 9 and 10 in the morning, there are 20 to 30 people in the hallway talking about `I don't have any more money, my rent is due' - three or four months behind - what can I do? And its unreal, because we don't have answers except to say, `here's a list of houses that we have intercepted that have been repossessed by banks, pick one and move in.'" To boot these trespassers out of the homes, banks are forced to take MWRO to court.

Amanda Clayton is charged with failing to inform the state that her income had changed as a result of the lottery prize and a job. The 25-year-old from Lincoln Park won a $1 million jackpot on the game show "Make Me Rich!" and chose a $735,000 lump sum, before taxes, last September.

She was set to appear today for a preliminary examination, but the hearing was adjourned at the defense's request.

The case is being prosecuted by the Michigan attorney general's office. A defense lawyer has said prosecutors are exploiting Clayton for their purposes.

Ain't money nice?  She's using the same power broker (Todd Flood, one of her attorneys) that Elena Ford had to squash down her OWI child endangerment charges in Ferndale.  Just can't wait to see what kind of deals are cut for this looter that'll undoubtedly be back on the public dole.

Additionally, on September 12, 2011, Clayton won $1,000,000 in the "Make Me Rich!" game show sponsored by the Michigan Lottery.

Attorney General Bill Schuette and Michigan Department of Human Services Director Maura D. Corrigan today announced that the Attorney General's Criminal Division has charged a million-dollar lottery winner with two felony counts of welfare fraud after investigation revealed she failed to report her lottery winnings, as well as her employment, as required by State law governing public assistance programs.  The charges resulted from an investigation by the Michigan Department of Human Services, Office of Inspector General.

"It's simply common sense that million dollar lottery winners forfeit their right to public assistance," said Schuette.  "We will continue to work with local, state and federal authorities to uphold state laws intended to ensure wise stewardship of taxpayer dollars."

"The hard work done by our Office of Inspector General has helped make the difference in this case," said Corrigan.  "That commitment to investigation and uncovering the truth, combined with the new law recently enacted by the legislature and signed by the Governor, will make it easier to ensure that outrages involving instant millionaires on public assistance don't happen in the future."

Frankly, our electronically connected interweb world never sleeps, mankind must, which conflicts with required sleep and the addicted news junkie within.  The internet outage has really been a welcomed reprieve.  It freshens the soul and serves to remind me why I abandoned the city with choosing the friendlier neighborly Northern lifestyle similar to my rural Oakland County childhood.  That might be a bore to others seeking all the trappings of citified communal living arrangements of convenience, but my little Mayberry-esque plot of Gods' creation I truly do hold precious.

Well, thus far today has already been a snap return to reality only to reap the rewards of my assumption it being just the first robocall attacking my Rep. Dan Benishek, for his "promoting" what Rush says on the airwaves broadcast by a private business.  The robocall was from this unheard of by me "group" calling themselves "The Women of the 99%."  Really?  Dan is promoting any such thing?  That is one wildly outrageous accusation to make by an unidentified "group" who, by the way, is now intruding into the privacy of my home.  Hmmm... no number shows on the caller ID, and *69 only prompts the phone company's recorded message that they are unable to determine the phone number used.  No surprise there as the unrelenting onslaught of robocalls from the Romney campaign and his Restore Our Future PAC used the same tactic.

A young woman who won $1m on a state lottery has sparked outrage after she admitted to still claiming benefits.

Amanda Clayton of Lincoln Park, Michigan still claims $200 a month in food stamps and despite paying cash for a new home and car said, 'I'm still struggling.'

The 24-year-old added that she is entitled to the welfare handout as she has two homes to run.

'I feel that it's okay because I mean, I have no income and I have bills to pay,' she said. 'I have two houses.'

Clayton won the $1 million in October after paying $10 for a series of tickets in the Michigan State Lottery.

She posed proudly with a giant check for the six figure sum and told friends the jackpot would change her life.
