  • Your New Scoop Site

    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

The Republican Majority in Lansing, has nothing better to do other than figuring out ways to screw the people of Michigan out of another $5.

Passed 74 to 33 in the House on October 3, 2013, to mandate that vehicle owners must replace their license plate after 10 years, even if it is still legible. Under current law the state imposes a $5 extra charge to replace a plate.

Leave it to SE Michigan's Moscow on the Huron to go the way of control freak Mayor Doomberg.

University of Michigan Health System and the University of Michigan Medical School will no longer peddle sugary drinks in their cafeterias and vending machines, banning the sale of everything from sodas to sweetened coffees.
    ....

"It is part of our effort to model healthy behaviors," said Pete Barkey, a spokesman for the health system.

And when U of M's "effort" does not include the use of my tax dollars, they are free to do whatever the Hell they want.

But several other efforts to reduce access have bred backlash for going to far to restrict personal choice. Courts have ruled that New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg's push to ban the sale of sugary drinks in containers larger than 16 ounces was illegal.

The Left is "pro choice" when comes to killing babies and Teh Ghey marriage.  Have a soft drink?  Forgettaboutit.  All those mentally ill cretins are fully deserving to be mocked.

That babe ^ is still the Big Gulp of Truth.

A Message To Our Legislators - Beware False Choices

Astute Observation of John Yob and Stu Sandler

I've always held a fondness for Republican Michigander.  Decent young man.  Believes in what he does.  I respect that.  Do we always see eye-to-eye?  Hell no.  That's OK.  It'd be boring otherwise.  What's all the lead in about, CS?  Glad you ask.  I just took a yonder over to Dan's blog, and dammit, principle prevails from Dan, again.

Full disclosure. I'm not a tea party guy. I'm not an anti tea party guy. Sometimes I agree with various tea party individuals and sometimes I am in opposition. I want to make that clear.

The straw poll was out and there was two races there listed. Lt Gov and President 2016. It is way early at this point and I haven't made up my mind. In that straw poll I voted for Mike Pence and Wes Nakagiri. I voted for Wes because of the gamesmanship from the "friends of the program." If you've seen the James Caan college football movie "The Program" you would understand the reference. It's where shady activities are involved by those close to but not directly related to the program. Some shady tactics were going on right before Mackinac related to "anti-Wes" activity and I wasn't happy about it. I know Wes being from the same county as he is. Those fake emails weren't his work. I don't know Brian Calley personally, although I've met him and he seems like a nice guy and I've heard that from others.

My vote for LG, like any other office will be determined by who helps the ticket the best. To me, that means the hardest worker for the campaign will get my vote. LG is about three things. 1. Getting the gubernatorial nominee elected. 2. Tie-breaking vote in the senate. 3. Ability to be governor if sometime happens to the governor (not applicable since the disaster Bill Milliken took over for George Romney after he took a cabinet post).

I don't want to see BS gamesmanship here. I don't care which side it comes from. I want to see candidates campaign and make their case. No more Romney primary tricks, nor Paul Scott 2010 Sec of State tricks.

That's a fair shake on the BS Rube Goldberg straw poll.  Good assessment, Dan.  The chattering class handling the incumbents are scrambling.  Circle them wagons, boys - the taxpayers are awakening!  Look, it's no secret to anyone that Brian Calley is the biggest joke in town if trying to paint him as a Conservative voice on the "Nerdy Ticket" to bigger government and higher taxes.  C'mon folks, a contrived straw poll from this jagoff?  AYFKM?  Besides, even the late Ray Charles could see Strat Nat pulling strings from behind the curtain.  Tacky.

Yessirree.  It is said that bullsh!t sells but, who's buying it anymore?  Not I.  Good luck with that, Nerdy ticket...

In the video below, I see Sen. Bob Corker, however, if one listens closely, all you'll hear is ousted Party Committeeman, and NPV lobbyist, Saul Anuzis embarrass himself debating a principled Conservative.

Thank you, Sen. Ted Cruz!  Keep exposing all the duplicitous dregs taking refuge in the GOP Big Tent for what they truly are - spineless, pandering, Democrat-lite Progressives.

Only one word comes to mind: Starve.

Yannow, between the Governerd surrounding himself with a deadbeat Treasurer, and a Medicaid billing mooslime responsible for at least one death now dumping $25K into the One Tough Nerd PAC <cough>HB 4714</cough>, all one has to do is sit back and watch "Rick Michigan" implode all on his own.  Damn good thing you're getting your monies upfront, young Johnny.

Another day older and deeper in debt
Saint Peter don't you call me 'cause I can't go
I owe my soul to the Government store

The state of Michigan will soon allow companies, organizations and communities to use the popular "Pure Michigan" branding in joint advertising and marketing.
    ....

"We will create customized 'Pure Michigan' advertising campaigns centered around clusters of business that we have in the state," Finney [MEDC] said. "You could take automotive, or you could take dairy [Subsidized], or you could take other agricultural products [Subsidized too, even The Dead], or software and we'll create customizable opportunities for companies to actively participate in the campaign."

The move is an extension of what the state has done with the tourism industry, where it has worked with about 50 partners to jointly advertise cities and tourist attractions such as The Henry Ford [501(c)(3) Tax Exempt] in Dearborn, Finney said. In those cases, the state [all taxpayers] and the entities split the costs for the creative advertising, he said.

...and that government of choosing the people, over the people, forking the people, shall not parish from Lansing, nor D.C.

Usually a video diversion, however, today y'all's get some reading.

    A Schizophrenic Elephant

    (Excerpt)

Every now and then, a Republican Party leader must feel tempted to stand up and say. "Folks, you've got us wrong. We don't really stand for any of the things that you think we do. We like small business, in theory. But we like big business more. That's about all we have in common. Also we're still against Communism, not that it matters anymore. But we're fine with having a lot of government agencies. We created most of them. And we like abortion and gay rights. We're also on board with Global Warming, illegal immigration and some international law."

That rarely happens. It rarely happens because that Republican Party is the one that was nearly consigned to oblivion in the first half of the last century. And as the Romney campaign showed, running on a platform of nothing but big business is not very inspiring. If Romney had actually been honest about his views, instead of dressing them up to win  the primaries, he would have done even worse in the general election.

    REST

Personally, outside of Sen. Ted Cruz, maybe a couple others in the House, and the Sarahcuda dabbling around the fringe of GOP, I don't see it as worth saving.

M'kay, let 'er rip... or, not.  Whatever.
