  • Your New Scoop Site

    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

Yogi's words make a lot of QE2 and Porkulus spending sense.  And, the Looter City rejoices with 40% of what the other Looter Cities are handed from Lansing, via The Detroit News

The mayor is welcoming word that the state plans to dedicate $25 million toward blight elimination efforts across Michigan, including $10 million in the city.
    ....

Legislation passed Wednesday lists how the state will spend its $97 million share of a national settlement with banks over faulty foreclosure processes. According to the state attorney general's office, $10 million of the $25 million for anti-blight efforts would be allocated for use in Detroit.

Yup.  Another $97.2M crock of theft by our 2010 Majority.  $20M for "counseling"?  WTF?!?!

This Wednesday refocuses our attention on House watching, looking for signs of Bolger and company rolling over for Gov Snydholm wanting his Exchange.

"There's a push, obviously, to set up an exchange There is a separate push - if we don't set one up - that we start some of the planning process," Adler said. "And then there is a lot of pressure to delay things a little longer. We are receiving a lot of feedback with a lot of different ideas."

Tread cautiously on that, Lansing GOP .. your vote could very well result in your own Stupak moment.

A Message To Our Legislators - Beware False Choices

    Wait Until November

Mr Bolger, with regard to the new health care exchange, listen to the next Governor.
"I think it would be wiser for our policy leaders in this state to wait until November, that's the final decision break point on this healthcare debate."

In other words, take your time.

And a side note on the question of WHOM is to be running the exchange?  Name three or four of the current governor's best friends, and you will be pretty close. If they are not currently, then they are soon-to-be, as it will involve vast amounts of money.

Let me remind the house leaders of testimoney they heard earlier this year (Below the fold)

    Compactcare: The Progressive Tactic

Context, context, context.  That should be the standard of success when applying the Constitution to the proper role of government.  The Constitution, as written, is easy to pick up and read.  Anyone who wishes can easily understand the Founders' intent and meaning.  However, spend too much time doing that and you will be labeled and considered a threat by Homeland Security. It is the progressive tactic to undermine truth and freedom by taking out of context the true meaning of our Constitution and the Founders' intent.  It is the progressive mindset that warps the meaning of words and the proper role of government.

The trampling of the Constitution by Washington over the last few years has resulted in an explosion of federal spending on new programs that have added to the massive national deficit.

    New "Reform" Law Attacks Marriage

Yup, that's right. If you were fired up about the gay marriage issue, you should be mad as heck at this. The new healthcare "reform" is bad for a lot of reasons, but this attack on marriage should concern us all.

What happens when young adults have to choose between marriage or healthcare insurance? That is the choice coming soon to a couple near you.

In the first few pages the law indicates that adults, up to age 26, can remain on their parents' healthcare insurance policy. The catch is that the individual must remained unmarried to recieve the benefit.

According to the State of Michigan, 42% of men and 58% of women get married between the ages of 20 and 24. But what happens to that rate if the couple involved wants to stay on their parents' healthcare insurance until age 26?

Will they be more likely to live together first? Only time will tell, but the new law gives young people an incentive to remain unmarried and live together instead. If that happens, those same couples are more likely to either not marry or get divorced if they do marry, at least according to a study quoted in the New York Times.

Help us fight back against the healthcare "reform". Go to www.michiganhcf.com and request a petition to circulate. We need you to stand shoulder to shoulder with us as we fight back. Join us!

Like a boil on the butt of humanity.....

There are so many things to be worried about right now in our state. Who will be the next Governor? Will taxes go up or spending finally be brought under control?  With so much to worry about, it is easy to forget how angry, shocked and appalled we were when Congress passed the healthcare "reform" bill.

That is by design.  It wasn't the shot heard around the world, it was more like a small cut on your foot that hurts, but doesn't look like it would kill you. Yeah, it is a bit painful; but after a few days you just move on.   The only problem is that an infection is raging just under the skin and is threatening your life.

That is what this healthcare bill is. We felt the initial sting, but maybe have moved on to one of the other issues that are capturing the medias' attention.  While we have moved one, the political elite are busy implementing the massive regulation, new taxes and other elements of the bill.  I am asking you to pause for a moment and consider again the impact of this healthcare bill on your life and on our country.

There is no shortage of bad news about this bill. From Taxes to Penalties for Small Businesses, this bill is going to hurt our economy.  And if Massachusetts is an indication of how our care will go, that isn't looking good either.  But we can fight back!

Michigan Citizens for Healthcare Freedom is working to make sure that what happened in Canada and Massachusetts can't happen here in Michigan.  We are working to make sure the government can't get between you and your doctor.  To do this we need to collect 500,000 signatures on a petition to add a constitutional amendment to the November ballot.  Join the fight by going to www.michiganhcf.com to find out more!
