  • Your New Scoop Site

    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

The Nerd is sounding more like Obama by the day.

For the appropriate response in its entirety, CLICK HERE.

First, let's have some facts, shall we?  There are 12,385,000 more people of working age (16-64, inclusive) today than there were in September of 2008.  America is not suffering from a contracting workforce.

    Period.

And, Snyder you Progressive snake, enough of the revisionist history about the Dow family of Connecticut.

$10+ Billion Dollars Leaves Michigan in Just One Year

It has crossed my mind. If growing government is considered "a success" by an alleged Republican dominated state with every lever of power in Lansing, then WhyTF would I want to remain here just to be fleeced?

Michigan's population is slowly rebounding, but millionaires may not be sticking around for the state's revival. [Where is the "revival"?]

Despite encouraging economic trends and a booming stock market, the state had 10,000 fewer millionaire households in 2013 than 2012, the Phoenix Global Wealth Monitor estimated in a report released this week.

A Message To Our Legislators - Beware False Choices

The Arcane Voice of Kerry '04 Granholm '06 and Obama '08 Doth Saith

The ongoing bleat from the lunatic of many convictions, presented without further delay, the entrenched homophile Twitiot.

    Former #Michigan Gov. William Milliken joins Gov. @OneToughNerd in condemning #RNC's Dave Agema record-eagle.com/opinion/x12212... #MIGOP #GOP #MIGov

Some reminders of history, lest they be repeated, obviously need reflection:

1969-1982:  William G. Milliken.  Thirteen years in Office.  Environmental extremist.  Chummy chum chum's with perhaps the most corrupt Mayor of Detroit ever.  But, it was smart of 'ol milquetoast Willy, that was his voting base.  Kerry backer... Granholm backer... Obama backer... As Paul Ryan would say about Newt Gingrich, "With friends like him..."  How this twaddling old tool still keeps calling himself a Republican is beyond disgusting.

Helen Milliken a proud eugenicist?  You betchya!  Not supposed to mention such atrocities... Shhhhhhhhh!  And, how can one forget...

Omitted: Made Jim Blanchard Look Appealing to Voters

Now, wayward, petty, and pedantic child, you carry on with that polarizing the MI-GOP into obsolescence.

    I stand with Dave.

    Rand Paul's Folly - Or Snyder/Paul 2016

This Is NOT Your Daddy's 'Paul'

Some of the ideas are familiar, but limited in ways typically embraced by establishment Republicans.

Rand Paul's visit to Detroit was precipitated by a conference call being reported by the Detroit News. In it, Senator Paul speaks of enterprise zones, with taxes so low as to "bail yourselves out". Adding to this an loosened visa incentive for a flow of foreign "entrepreneurs" into the city.

Paul, widely considered a 2016 potential presidential candidate, said he will introduce legislation Monday to create "economic freedom zones" by dramatically lowering taxes in depressed areas and loosen visa rules to encourage foreign entrepreneurs to immigrate to the city.

"We hope to create taxes so low you essentially are able to bail yourselves out," Paul said Thursday in a conference call outlining his plan.

So now instead of "jobs that Americans don't want to do," perhaps we will be talking about cities that Americans don't want to live or work in.

I wonder how that would work?

    Maybe something like this?

"Mr Chen, you are welcome to stay, invest, develop, and work in our country. However, you are limited to this particular region. If for some reason you are not satisfied there, I guess you are out of luck."
    Or in other words,
"Welcome to the Hotel Detroit. Love it, or get the hell out of our country.."
Right, somehow I can't see THAT happening.

Which of course begs the question of what happens to those who emigrate, and decide to move somewhere a little safer than Baghdad of Michigan? When "loosening visa requirements," it seems that a genie let out is a little hard to stuff back in the lamp. Its hard to imagine 'restrictive' movement placed on those who simply seek a better life, and upon finding out that Detroit is no better than the hole they left, it is highly likely that they will indeed "seek" such a place.

And it seems we have heard those words about foreigners feeling welcomed before.

    Go below the fold.

In the mean time, Rick Snyder's MEDC and Gary Peters are tirelessly working for Corporate Welfare schemes.

    So He Likes Transparency?

    Laugh of the day.

    From Its Just Politics:

"Finally, just to make all of this a little more high school: both sides say Governor Rick Snyder told them he's on their side. But the Governor's spokeswoman responded that that's not quite true; says he likes transparency, but he also supports free speech."
Because speech is not free when its transparent?

Right.  Because transparency is a high priority in his world.

Oh, and as for Ruth in 2014?  They ask the question:

"Will Ruth Johnson pay a political price for her stance on disclosure? To seek reelection, she has to be nominated next year at a Republican convention. How will GOP delegates respond to this sort of renegade behavior?"
If ANY Republican elites even suggested such a move, She would be well served to take her momentum that much more forward and shoot for Guv, where Mr 36% is extremely vulnerable.

It would be a far better state for it.

Only the perpetually stupid could continue to ignore this.

The unapologetic praise for a system that holds no chance of meeting promises made and already broken, is continuing unabated. The use of the term Obamacare as an endearing term, instead of the official title "Affordable Care Act." Appropriately connecting the dots from Obamacare to Medicaid expansion; a feat that be performed only with enablers and collaborators in our State Senate and House. When the bleeding edge of the socialist/fascist movement in this country praises our governor for expanding welfare; a move that promises to explode in our face in 3 years time?

Yet losing the seat to a Democrat is the fear that would keep cowardly Republicans voting for Rick Snyder?

Could anyone remind us all here why his winning really matters again?

From the guy whose company would go to the ends of the earth for its people to hire them for 10% the cost of Michigan workers, now does so as your elected Governerd.  Also, as Republican Michigander notes, Mexico, too.
