  • Your New Scoop Site

    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

    Something A `Republican' Michigan Governor Won't Do

Expanding on the theme of "If you are going to take time to craft a holiday message, at least have the decency to recognize why."

Unafraid to use their official positions to recognize that the holidays exist for a reason, the following state executives stepped up and named them. Typically accessed from their government pages, and some referenced from social media, here are some more non PC greetings sure to offend the freaks of progressivism.

Alaska's governor Sean Parnell has traditionally had a Christmas Video out.  The newest expected anytime now.

Titled "Seasons Greetings," Indiana governor Mike Pence uses "Christmas" no fewer than 6 times in three full paragraphs.  Add a "Blessing" or two, and we Definitely get the message!

Florida's Rick Scott posts a "Christmas" message celebrating ".. a time to celebrate the blessings that are bestowed upon us and the birth of our Lord."

My Goodness, Wyoming's SOS has "Merry Christmas" and a story to go with it right up on the state's website. The Governor, Matt Mead even posts an audio "Merry Christmas."

Maine Governor Paul LePage also posts an audio "Christmas" message for Mainers

    Politically Korrect

    Hit me.

I mean it. If ever I get so self centered with my writing that I make the left turn towards apologizing for the actions of my fellow Republicans, whack me upside the head. Particularly when it is for behaving like Republicans.  Particularly on issues that go further into the book than a simple cover.

Hit me if I ever write stuff like this:

"But Michigan Republican can't seem to stop there, largely because they have a determined constituency of social conservatives and angry knee-jerkers who want what they want, regardless of whether it accomplishes anything. So along with the economic changes the state badly needs, we get proposals to mandating the Pledge of Allegiance, drug-testing welfare recipients, and banning domestic partner benefits for some public employees."

Regardless if it accomplishes anything?  Of course it accomplishes something.  In fact, when looking at drug testing for welfare, does it not encourage those who wish to receive assistance, to take a little ownership of their situation?  At the very least they can transform themselves into non drug abusing recipients, and at best it might encourage them to seek help and social redemption.

"Umm sorry we won, Mm-k you poor Dems? Like I apologize for all the extremism my friends are going to unleash, all right?"

Never heard of 'hard love' I guess, huh? Of course, never mind.  The key to mom's door is still under the ceramic frog .. just in case.

A Message To Our Legislators - Beware False Choices

    Perfectly Normal For A Jacka--

Well maybe not..  One would expect a small amount of self restraint.  Even from a far left progressive liberal.

One might expect the lefty blogs to do it.  Its possible that some sheltered individuals who do not understand what it means.  Maybe even in a private setting, or closed group to gin up the primal mana.. OK  Got it..  But..  The use of a pejorative term depicting a homosexual act between two men is hardly appropriate for anyone's use in a public forum, much less for a sitting member and candidate for US congress.

Gary Peter's use of THAT word should raise eyebrows.  Henry Payne discusses this at the Michigan View:

"My friend here is a teabagger," Peters is purported to have said at one juncture, pointing in Raczkowski's direction. A Peters staffer at the event reportedly froze at the term's use. Repeated calls to the Peters campaign to confirm or deny the term's use were not returned. "

    Oh my..

Indeed, the cry for civility seems to be the noise made by the lefties when they are getting a substantial (and legitimate) beat down on policy, but when it is convenient they forget what such a thing may be.

A full apology for this slur is unlikely.  Even though he has dishonored the seat he currently holds.  I will use the best term I can think of to describe his behavior, while maintaining the decency standards of this site.

My Friend, Mr Peters there is a Michigan Democrat.
