    Neck wringing (none / 0) (#3)

Everyday I wring my hands trying to figure out what to do about a government that is taking away the incentive for large groups of people to work together to solve our problems with what was once know as the great American Can Do spirit.
The incentive is free enterprise and the can do spirit is being replaced with the new improved the government can do it.

Yes I can do my part.  I guess I just have to do it better.

Organize, Protest, organize, protest, let's start wringing necks instead of hands, and we can start where we live, our own party our own politicians, in our own neighborhoods.

Back anything that backs free enterprise, free people and less government then organize a couple of friends and join a movement.  Make a movement. Become a "voting block". ReBecome a free people.

    Spacecraft and Subcompacts (none / 0) (#6)

The comparison between the two doesn't work well.

Can it be done?  Can we make cars that get 50 mpg?  Well, of course we can; after all, just look at the space program.  Except that the space program has a large budget.  It doesn't have to produce a final product which provides a compelling cost/benefit ratio to consumers.

I'm sure we can make cars that get great mileage.  However, if it could be done with existing technology, at a price point that consumers would be willing to pay, the market forces would already have the automakers doing it.  They aren't, which tells me that we can't.  At least not yet.

For me, it's not anything to wring hands about.  I just don't like the government telling private industry what to make.
