I want the MSP and law enforcement to have all the latest technology to help keep law breakers off the streets but with the MSP not being so forthcoming with how these are being used currently and not wanting to release the information it makes one suspicious.  As I posted earlier, I have three family members in law enforcement so I tend to come down on their side but I want the window of opportunity for abuse of this device to be put in the proper perspective.  Look at the LEIN program - it has been abused numerous times by police officers looking up info on ex's, girlfriends, boyfriends, neighbors, etc.  So you can see where a law abiding citizen has room to be concerned that this too will be abused by officers with an axe to grind.

    Question number one (none / 0) (#28)

Exactly why does it cost someone filing a FOIA request over one-half million dollars to obtain information that is stored electronically (which means very easily accessible)?

When the MSP representative don't provide a suitable answer, I would highly recommend introducing a bill banning these devices from ALL MSP vehicles patrolling Michigan roads.

Making violators spend some quality time spent in either Ryan or Mound Road will be a strong disincentive to anyone who gets any ideas.
