I started reading to my children at a very early age and worked with them every day on the alphabet and numbers - wayyyyyyy before they started attending school.  Is that so damned hard?

You keep on wanting to turn out un or under educated students to repeat the same mistakes.  If parents really care about their children THEY are the ones who can make a difference and start demanding some accountability from these schools who REFUSE to take the bull by the horns and set some common sense ground rules and ENFORCE them.
