I'm not exactly sure how one goes about doing it, but unless the executive board at the MI-GOP is overhauled, not much is gonna change in this state.

Agree. However, Rome wasn't built or crumbled in a day and it appears that either a long term work your way up the political ladder (some may prefer the term claw) or just have gobs of money is the path to overhauling in this state or any.

Perhaps although not as glamorous, more folks should pay attention and get involved on a local level, "All politics is local"

    I agree with you . . . (none / 0) (#10)

. . . in that Durant is the only real contender to Hoekstra in this race.  The last I checked, the primary field consists of nine names, five of which (including Durant and Hoekstra) already have the statewide organization to be viable.  I also know that most of the tea party organizations in this state view the matter as I do, in that for now Durant is presenting merely as an establishment-alternative to an establishment-frontrunner.  And that the media is effectively ignoring the "second-tier candidates" is not sitting well with them.

However, I disagree with you in your assessment of the MTPPN's choice of days being ill-reflective of their vetting methodology.  I say this because I'm aware of some behind-the-scenes details that I just haven't posted up here yet.  (Adjusting my professional schedule to accommodate a now-28-day-old daughter whose nursery is literally right across the hall from my in-house office is proving to be something of a bugger.)  The article-post that will explain this in some detail is one of my  projects-in-the-hopper that I need to just finish and get posted.

Without wasting any of my own thunder, let me just say that there are now measures in place to prevent the fiasco of last year's 2nd Congressional District republican primary from recurring.  Ditto for backing a candidate who realistically has no chance and for backing a candidate who ultimately turns out to be a fraud.

    Stay tuned.
