  • Your New Scoop Site

    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

    From the Official Call:

There shall be a meeting of the duly elected Precinct Delegates and the At-Large Delegates to the County Convention at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, January 10, 2011 at the Western Michigan University Conference Center in Grand Rapids (200 Ionia Ave SW, Grand Rapids, MI - 49503).

The purpose of this meeting shall be to elect Delegates and Alternates to the January 28 & 29, 2011 State Convention to be held at DeVos Place in the City of Grand Rapids.  The purpose of the State Convention is to elect district and state party leadership.

Only Precinct Delegates elected at the August 3, 2010 Primary Election, the most recent Republican nominees for County and State legislative offices, and Precinct Delegates seated on a permanent basis at the August 2010 County Convention will be seated and considered eligible to vote at this convention.  We will be using an apportionment method based on the 2010 General Election results for the Secretary of State by district.

My report on the convention follows the break.

G R Press: Judge Jane Markey - A case of poor judgment

A Grand Rapids Press Editorial, dated July 28, 2007, takes issue with Judge Markey's "abuse of power" (their words, not mine) in attempting to "leverage a teaching job for her husband" at Cooley Law School - while she served on the School's Board of Directors.

This is the kind of thing that the opposition will use in ads come fall....we can't risk it.  Taking back the Michigan Supreme Court is just too important.
