Metro-Detroit Media Outlets Play Dumb When it Comes to the Truth About Abortion

Last Friday, June 27, 2008, a beautiful funeral Mass was held at Assumption Grotto Parish in Detroit for seven victims of the War on the Unborn.

Like the funeral Mass held on Saturday, May 3, 2008, for twenty-three other victims of America's abortion nightmare, the June 27th Mass received virtually no coverage from the mainstream media.  For background, see: http://www.rightmichigan.com/story/2008/5/8/02533/25550

Once again, Archdiocese of Detroit Auxiliary Bishop John Quinn presided over the Mass, which was attended by over 600 pro-life witnesses - more than double the attendance for the May 3rd Mass.  Additionally, this time Fr. Frank Pavone, the founder of Priests for Life and a nationally known figure, gave the graveside eulogy prior to the burial of the unborn babies in Assumption Grotto's parish cemetery.

Yet, there was not a peep about this event from the so-called mainstream media.

The media certainly knew what was occurring, since, on the morning of the Mass and burial, the Catholic, pro-life activist group Citizens for a Pro-life Society held a press conference right outside the Livonia abortuary where members of the group had found the seven unborn babies illegally disposed of in a common dumpster back in April of this year.

Citizens for a Pro-Life Society reports that the Detroit News never bothered to show-up to the press conference, while WDIV-Channel 4 only sent a camera man (and footage from the press conference was never aired).

Another news outlet, Fox2-Detroit, "sent a rookie intern to the press conference with a camera man" and "they were also seen at Assumption Grotto for a short time," but, again, no story or footage was ever aired!

    Read on. . .

Meantime, the Detroit Free Press and Livonia Observer did run stories - but not about the Mass and subsequent burial, but rather about how the Livonia abortuary in question had been cleared by the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality after the killing center corrected its "mistake" of improperly disposing of "medical waste" with the regular trash.

The executive director of Citizens for a Pro-Life Society, Dr. Monica Migliorino Miller, PhD, was exactly right when she said in an e-mail earlier this week to supporters:

"This was an engaging, interesting, important and controversial story.  Aborted babies taken out of a trash container and then buried by the Catholic Church is the moral drama of our age played out right here in Detroit-Metro's very backyard and the media missed it."

Contrast this despicable lack of coverage of the June 27th Mass and burial for the seven unborn victims with the major media interest last week in euthanasia activist Jack Kevorkian's cry-baby police report that somebody damaged his precious electoral petition.  See:  http://www.rightmichigan.com/story/2008/6/26/04737/9478

This is sad, but oh-so predictable as most of the mainstream (a.k.a. liberal) media have covered-up the true horror of what legalized, systematic murder in the womb (for profit) is really all about.  And they have done this for decades now!

Luckily, in the age of the Internet and "citizen journalism," we can still get the word out about what's really going on when it comes to the abortion industry and its unquenchable blood lust.  Accordingly, because the mainstream media refused to do their job again, below I have posted a first-hand account written by Dr. Miller about how these seven unborn victims were discovered.  Here's what the pro-abortion Detroit-Metro media elites do not want you to know:

"It began on the evening of March 29, 2008. Two teams had set out to investigate abortion clinic trash dumpsters. I was with Anne Mitzel and Mary Sullivan to do a final check of the trash dumpster behind Alberto Hodari's Woman Care clinic in Lathrup Village, Michigan. The other team was Lynn Mills and Jenny Nelson. Earlier that month we found bio-hazard waste, numerous patient records and the remains of 23 aborted babies in the trash behind Hodari's Lathrup Village clinic as well as Hodari's abortion clinic in Sterling Heights. On the night of March 29th,  while our team searched Hodari's dumpster, Lynn Mills and Jenny Nelson set out to take a look at Hodari's trash dumpster behind his abortion clinic in Livonia. Lynn called me on her cell to report that they found no trash there. Lynn suggested that she and Jenny should check the Woman's Advisory abortion clinic dumpster on Six Mile Road in Livonia instead--just to see what we might find.  This clinic is owned and operated by Dr. Reginald Sharpe.  A half hour later Lynn called to report that indeed, in the few bags that they retrieved, bio-hazard waste as well as patient records were discovered.

This began a systematic search of the Women's Advisory trash dumpster for the next three consecutive weekends, April 5, 12, and 19th.  We also made several searches of the trash container behind Reginald Sharpe's abortion clinic in Detroit known as Sharpe's Family Planning.  We also took a look at Jacob Kalo's abortion clinic on Eight Mile Rd. in Detroit, known as Eastpointe Gynecology.  We found bio-hazard waste in the trash containers behind this clinic as well.  A full police report was filed with the Detroit and the Livonia police departments. The police report we filed on the Women's Advisory clinic is available on  www.prolifesociety.com.

Our April 5th search of the Woman's Advisory dumpster was the first time we found the remains of aborted babies from that clinic. As we separated out the blood-soaked blue-colored surgical papers, my student, John Brick, was the first to see the foot, about three quarters of an inch in length. We also found other body parts from other aborted babies, eyes, rib cages, spinal columns, eyes out of their sockets--the remains of human beings mixed in with blood-saturated trash. We found fetal tissue sticking to a blood-stained McDonald's hamburger bag. All this horrific spectacle was recorded during our actual searches and is mounted on You Tube as a record of legalized abortion and serves as a record of  Women's Advisory's violations of Michigan State statutes (See You Tube video 'Abortion Dumpster Scandal--Women's Advisory').

We also found the remains of aborted babies on April 12th as well as April 19th. Two of the aborted babies were in plastic specimen jars with the names of women written on the jars--presumably the mothers of these aborted babies.

Our searches also yielded over 100 bloody suction canulae--the very instruments used in the Women's Advisory abortion procedures   On the weekend of April 12th we found 51 such suction canulae.

When we unwrapped the bloody surgical papers and saw the remains of the babies we delved into a secret world.  When I looked at the dismembered bodies I saw human beings who died a violent death. What does the abortionist see? It is a mystery, how I can see one thing and he another. These unwanted aborted unborn were consigned to the trash in the darkness of a dumpster--never to be seen, never to be known. When we took them out of the trash we discovered their secret--the secret of their hidden lives--their hidden deaths.  We also saw first-hand the most unseemly--most sordid side of the abortion practice.

Something happened for these aborted unborn that was never meant to be--they are embraced by us back into the human family--to be buried in dignity."

    This is abortion in America.

As we reflect on our nation's birthday this holiday weekend, let us not forget all those millions upon millions of American citizens who have been, and will be, denied their day of birth due to the current state of the law in these United States.
