    let's focus on real issues (3.00 / 2) (#11)

I'm not sure who's orchestrating the overreactions to Rick's victory in Mackinac, but it is frustrating to watch smears be spread around when we could be having honest debates over how to get our state back on track and clean up after the Cherry/Granholm mess.

You didn't have to show who you voted for to the campaign, you just had to show them that you voted. It was all a part of the points system the campaign came up with to encourage volunteer participation on the island. It was so they could give out awards at the end to the most active volunteers.

Obviously it was crucial for Rick to get some momentum for the campaign, so they had a good "get out the vote" operation in Mackinac. I like the way Hoekstra put it - they just saw it as a good investment, his campaign didn't.

Cox and Bouchard both brought hundreds of college volunteers to the island as well, and they were doing the same types of things.

Can we as a conservative community please keep our eye on the ball and focus on policy solutions to fix Michigan? I really would hope for more substantive ideas and advocacy from a community blog like this, but it seems like it's just a tool of certain campaigns to further divide the Michigan Republican community.

The only way we could lose next November, whoever we choose to run against the Dems, is if we shoot ourselves in the foot in the primary. Let's keep this civil for the good of the party and of Michigan. Let's focus on real issues.
