"The state legislation would provide a 90-day redemption period for those facing imminent foreclosure. If the homeowner submits to financial counseling offered by state or federal housing experts..."

Let's consider where the state is going to get these "financial counseling...experts"

Could it be, perhaps, the Michigan Trial Lawyers Association?

This bill is a special interest pay off in disguise, especially considering that according to Sen. Bishop's spokesperson Matt Marsden, Senate Republicans offered up a similar bill that would not have required this 90-day lawyer-for-hire period.

In addition, one must ask how necessary this legislation even is.  According to Dillon, many banks have proposed their own moratoriums on foreclosures and that "Banks don't want to have to take the keys back to a home."

So the simple question becomes: IF BANKS ALREADY HAVE MORATORIUMS, WHY DOES THE STATE NEED TO ENFORCE THEIR OWN!?

Answers: the 2010 election, and pay-backs for the MTLA.
