    It's called foster care. Watch the state take up the "best interest of the child" mantle to remove the kids from homes experiencing financial difficulties. The kids will then go in foster care, where the state will spend $41 a day (reimbursement to foster parents and administrative money to agency) per child to maintain them as a case in FC. This also doesn't count what other services may be offered to the family (e.g., financial counseling).

    In cases like these, I'd rather see the $41/day/child go to the families. Even though I am not in favor of welfare, the money is better spent preserving the family than in paying for FC.
