MTP is not a tax increase (none / 0) (#8)

Our current tax code is driving away business and must be replace. Companies pay on average 3-4% more on state and local taxes in Michigan than the state we most often compete against for manufacturing or knowledge jobs. In today's global economy, that is the difference between whether or not you make a profit.

Business CEO's and site location consultants view Michigan's business climate as among the worst of all fifty states. These perceptions are driven by their views on the cost and ease of doing business in Michigan.

The Michigan Turnaround Plan is revenue neutral (read: no tax increase). We can balance the budget by making savings to state government (controlling pension costs, encouraging employees to retire, encouraging consolidation, etc.). It's not a tax increase. Let's be clear.
