    But not sure that other than the occasional moderate who cannot accept a Palin or Bachmann possibility we have beat up on too many conservatives here.  At least not in the way you describe.

    Point taken however, and agreed that there is not a good outcome from expending energy deriding our other conservative candidates.

    Question to Speck: If Palin was the Republican candidate, would you vote for the 'redneck' or the fraud?

    I would vote for Palin and then take a shower.

    I would never - under any circumstances - vote for Obama or any other liberal.

    I agree that the infighting is not productive, but I just cannot stand the Palin adulation. Our side has a lot of bright, educated and intelligent people and we can do a lot better than Palin as a front-runner.

    I agree that the media has savaged her unfairly and your other points about her speaking fees, etc. have merit. "Opportunist" was probably a poor choice of words. I just don't think she has fought back effectively, and she doesn't appear to be able to stand on her own without handlers feeding her lines and preparing her statements. If she throws her hat in the ring I may be proven wrong -- and I hope that I am. I just feel that she's far more concerned with celebrity than policy.

    And I think cutting and running from the Governor's job while under fire was a sign of weakness. Yes, there was a tremendous amount of BS being thrown at her, but it would be a thousandfold were she to be elected president.

    We'll agree to disagree on this one.
