    I have advocated the dissolution of DPS into charter elements for some time.  That would be the better way, but the public schools folks would have no part of it.

    Next best is going to choice among publicly supported institutions in my view.

    why "the situation" is tolerated in Detroit and not tolerated in Grosse Pt.?

    Charter schools may help some but you have to have structure and continuity in the whole education experience and that includes discipline.  No one, and I mean no one, wants to address this at any level because they are too afraid of law suits and accusations of unfairness.  

    If a majority of DPS parents really want a good education for their children it would be getting done but from what I can see the only one that is outraged at their situation is Dave Bing and politicians who want to throw more money at bad policies.  Sorry, it is time to say enough.
