    way to encourage it.

Primarily, I am trying to point out there are ways in which our party can repair itself and prevent the suspicion and undermining of principle that goes on.   I am also very serious about the solution.

Without a proper challenge, a politico has no incentive to own up to such diversions from promises.  That letter only works if they actually care.

But I am not even sure if is harsh.  you may be right about a couple times for corrections, but which party member or citizen will accept such a letter when the time comes?

    Conversly about that (none / 0) (#4)

"...your frustration lies with the lies coming out of primaries.  Candidates state their positions and, when elected, forget their positions.  Game the system is the strategy."

Yes sir, that is an absolute.  So, why should I be deprived of solutions to remedy the widely stretched and vastly outmoded Reagan Eleventh Commandment?  Haven't we seen enough of the Fred Upton Centrists who banded together under the Republican name to stifle Conservatives?

The November 1994 mid-term elections were commonly referred to as the "Republican Revolution." Given the great gains made by Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate, a group of House Republicans began informal meetings to discuss ways to further a centrist, pragmatic Republican agenda -- one that could accommodate bipartisan legislative results. The discussion group began to craft a centrist Republican agenda focused on the critical fiscal issues of the day.

What began as a congressional discussion group started by Reps. Nancy Johnson, Steve Gunderson and Fred Upton has evolved into a national gathering of leaders from government, business and education who share a commitment to conservative, pragmatic approaches to business in a global context; to compassion in our communities and character in our national leaders.

From my vantage point, I've tired of all the dubious schemes such as the taxpayer pledge and Contract for America as they are indeed proven as useful as a roll of 2-ply.  Why would I entrust any of the elected class to such luxuries as "in good conscience" resignation letters to such standard bearers of Party subsidized reelection war chests as Arlen Specter and wide poop stance foot-tapper Larry Craig?  Sure, they are gone... after the damage is done.

In essence, I am now stuck for another election cycle with a compromised Dan Benishek in a heavily Democrat CD-1.  That right there is the reason folks say "Why should I vote Democrat-lite when I can have the real thing".

If primaries aren't the path to truth, what is?
