With the 2012 election behind us, we need to look forward to the 2014 election cycle. I am convinced we need leadership dedicated to strengthening our local organizations.
It's no secret our grassroots activists were thirsty for victory, but for months, a lack of supplies and support left our volunteers and organizations in tremendously difficult positions.
We need a true partner in the state party; someone who is able to put their experience to work in building our local organizations. I want to be that partner and have decided to seek the Chairmanship of the Michigan Republican Party.
I look forward to speaking with each of you in the coming days and weeks about my vision and what we can accomplish by working together to build strong and sustainable local organizations.
As Kent County GOP Chair, I am proud of what our team has been able to accomplish this cycle. As a strong local organization, we raised $1.3 million for the cycle, mailed over 60,000 pieces of literature to support our candidates, distributed over 400,000 pieces of candidate materials in the final 15 days of the campaign, and we worked with our candidates to stuff and mail over 40,000 pieces of A/V mail to arrive on the same day as the voters ballot. All of this helped turn our county from losing by 1,500 votes in 2008 to winning by over 22,000 votes in 2012. This effort allowed us to win every seat that we targeted to win - including maintaining a 15-4 majority on our county commission (we lost three of these seats in 2008).
I'm ready to go to work with you to produce a winning plan that is tailored to the individual local organizations throughout the State of Michigan. I look forward to traveling the state and meeting with as many activists as possible.
Thanks for all that you have done for the party!
