Yes, well, when you have a university that sucks nearly half a billion dollars out of Michigan taxpayers in the form of direct and indirect appropriations, and is engaged in an immoral cross-generational wealth transfer, from millennials who have to hock their first born to pay obscene tuition rates, to spoiled, effete baby-boomer admimistrators and faculty, your local economy will tend to do better than the rest.
