Kenneth Sciotti was awarded over $400 K by the Michigan Supreme Court today.  He sued the 36th district court under the Michigan Civil Rights Act claiming that he was unfairly passed over for promotion because he is white.

His complaint asserted that between 1998 and 2003 nine positions, which he applied for, were given to less qualified black employees. Additionally, he claimed that the court retaliated against him for two letters he had written regarding lack of diversity at the 36th district court.

A jury awarded Mr. Sciotti $424,000.  The award was upheld by an appellate court and today by the Michigan Supreme Court.
