RMGN finished? Language cites section of constitution that doesn't exist!

We knew the extremist Reform Michigan Government Now petition was a grab-bag of blatantly pro-Democrat "reforms" designed to do everything from limit representation in Lansing to pack the courts in favor of the far left.  We knew the thing was eight pages long and covered top to bottom in fine print.  We knew that it makes thirty-six some odd changes to the state's constitution.  What no one caught up to this point was, well, I'll let the Ivory Tower break the news:

The mistake in the ballot proposal petition is contained in a section that prescribes how a new director of state elections would be selected. It calls for procedures "as provided for in Article II, Section 11" of the Michigan Constitution.

The problem is there is no Section 11 in either the current constitution or the proposed ballot amendment...

Dianne Byrum, a consultant for Reform Michigan, said Thursday that she... was unaware of the drafting error.

    Umm.... oops?

Tough to call for procedures that don't exist.  And even tougher to legally amend a section of the constitution using another section that isn't there.

According to the Citizens Research Council, a non-partisan organization that digs through ballot plans every year this is only one of several mistakes in the 21,000 word document.  No word on what the others might be just yet.

So now the clandestine backers of this stealth petition want the bureau of elections to:

    A)  Ignore the rampant fraud and outright lies their circulators used to obtain signatures

    B)  Summarize 21,000 words and 36 specific constitutional changes using 100 words total (if you think it's possible, you try)

    C)  Ignore the constitution which plainly limits the ballot initiative amendment process to one issue / change at a time and now

    D)  Ask the voters to amend the constitution to use procedures outlined in a phantom section that only exists somewhere in the dark recesses of Mark Brewer's fever addled brain?

    Yeah, no thanks.

Nothing is over until it's over but RMGN is down forty-love and on the short end of a 6-0, 6-0, 5-0 set.  And Diane Byrum?  She's no Raphael Nadal.

Good to see the mistakes starting to come out. Especially after the major money was wasted on the effort for the signatures. Hope to here from you as the other mistakes come out and the challenges get filed.  Maybe the backers after losing so much money will be a little more skeptical next time. Hopefully they will hang in there and fight the good fight and spend more of their loot.  Good to see that money going down the tubes.  Think how many local elections that could of funded.  How many surrogate union coffers that could of filled.
    Keep it up Nick.

TOO FUNNY - HAHA. They thought they were SO SMART by not getting language approved before paying for signatures. Serves them right. HAHA.

There would seem to be no way it could ever reach the ballot, but we'll need to stay on top of this issue, which will probably be labeled by the RMGN group as "only a minor obstacle."

    Great find!

The good guys have Peter Ellsworth, one of the best attorneys out there arguing this. RMGN is in BIG trouble
