What's up with Nick? He's got a new gig!

    What's up, team?

As many of you have noticed, I've been relatively incommunicado here at RightMichigan lately.  I've been here, reading, geeked by the interaction and the daily updates so many of you have been providing but I haven't been participating the way I used to.

Almost every single day for nearly three years I've blogged here on RightMichigan and I've loved (almost) every minute of it but over the last few months I slowly came to a realization... I've still got the "bug."

There are important things going on in this state and in this nation and as critical as blogging is, I'd started jonesing for a more all-engrossing, full-time experience... a chance to be a part of a team, doing big things on a professional stage to make Michigan the sort of state we all know she can be.

I stepped back, saw that RightMichigan was in great hands... YOUR hands... and eventually decided to take the plunge into a fantastic opportunity.

This week I began work in Lansing as the new Deputy Director of Communications for Attorney General Mike Cox.

My relationship with the AG goes back to 2002 when I interned on what remains THE surprise campaign of the last decade and I've been a big fan ever since.  It's rare in politics to find a candidate or a public official who doesn't just talk the talk but actually walks the walk.  Mike's one of the few.  And I'm proud to be a part of his team.

My fandom aside, I should note that RightMichigan is, was and will remain an open forum for everyone on the Right side of the political spectrum.  If you're worried that the site will start shilling for one primary candidate to the exclusion of everyone else... don't.

First of all, I'm going to work for the Attorney General, not the campaign. Second, press staff from the Bouchard, Cox and Hoekstra campaigns... heck, the candidates themselves, all remain welcome here on RightMichigan and have full posting privileges.

Most of all, I want to say "what's up" to each and every one of you who continue to make RightMichigan THE resource for conservatives in the Great Lakes State.  I may have been the face but this site's never been about me. It has ALWAYS been about you.  So don't go anywhere... heck... participate more often.

And if you're ever in Lansing, give me a shout!

Thanks again for everything you're doing.

I always said the Cox Comm team was deep, but now it is down right abyssal!

Best of luck to you in the new digs.

Good news for you and your career, and bona fortuna!

Bad news for RightMichigan - most of the regular bloogers are lame, self-infatuated, and irrelevent compared to your Nick self.

(BTW, tell the new boss that if he's serious about a Governor run, he'd better start by apologizing to the single dads he was so busy flinging poo at a few years back).

It's always good to hear when someone back home finds a decent job. The best of luck to you in the future. But I do agree with the previous post that Right Michigan will unfortunately suffer the most. I may not have always agreed with Nick, but he created a forum here that almost an institution now in Michigan politics. I'd be interested in occasionally posting to help keep it going.

and it appears there are many capable of holding the fort down, you're missed Nick! I hope you'll keep us posted.

    God speed!

You do realize, of course, that as a proper fiscally conservative, limited government right-wing blog, we must all call for your job to be eliminated... =)

You will be missed here.  Personally, I already miss the "Day in the Sphere" posts.  They really helped to make this place seem like a community, and often gave me a chance to read something interesting that I would otherwise have missed.  Any of the other bloggers here willing to pick this back up?

See you around the Campaign Trail

Moving on up is good.  I have noticed in my shor blogging life there is a journalistic slant that creeps into what we do no matter what.  That detracts from the actual doing, the reality if you will of being out and actually doing it.

You're young and full of it.  You should be a part of the New Republicans. Not just writing about it.

I've been trying to set up my own web site (same name different address) and I find my self being driven by the site, more than real life.  Hope to find a balance. Hope to figure the damn thing out. It is a work in progress.

Best of luck.  Kind of figured you'd get back into the doing, it gets into the blood. Hoping to see you in Mackinac if you're going.  I'm trying to find a ride etc.

Hey, it's a shame that Nicky didn't (and probably still doesn't and never will) truly and properly appreciate his TRUE fans -- especially the SWMABHF ones who actually have REAL common sense! (Ouch!)

    Congrats, Nick. (none / 0) (#18)

Best wishes in your new job.  It is a relief to us geezer conservatives to see smart, talented young conservatives step up and continue the fight.
