Bernero becomes the defacto puppet for MEA

    The MEA has a problem.

People are starting to wake up to the fact that the MEA represents the fourth highest paid teachers in the country. (in a state that ranks near the bottom for average wages otherwise)  Further, that the current contracts are time bombs.  Add to this, the public realization of what the MEA "re-packages" as insurance is  merely a BCBS policy with a 25% profit for the union built in reinforces a growing sentiment that this public sector union in particular is bad business for Michigan.

And THAT is bad news for the MEA.

So bad, they need a plug to stop the inevitable leak in the money pipe from Lansing to the highly paid MEA infrastructure.  Bad enough to look for a place to put a controlling hand that nods his head, and makes him bow, and has him sign on the dotted line when told.

And Andy Dillon wasn't THAT GUY.

Nope..  The MEA along with a couple other major unions put Dillon back in the trunk along with a few other Democrats who won't tow the union line.  From the Lansing State Journal:

The 157,000-member Michigan Education Association said today it's recommending the mayor to be Michigan's next governor. Bernero's wife is an elementary school principal in Lansing.

The Democratic mayor already has won the endorsement of the state's largest labor group, the 600,000-member Michigan AFL-CIO and its 59 unions, including the American Federation of Teachers.

"Just say no to Dillon" was apparently the secret phrase used in the post office game that was played in the teacher's lounges recently.

Though we agree on "saying no" to Dillon for a number of other reasons, (Like the largest tax hike in Michigan history..  etc..) it hardly behooves us to support the new Charlie McCarthy sitting on the lap of big labor. Mouthing what is merely the words of those who have an interest in their own Big Business, and the profits and power that comes with a culling of jobs and vitality in Michigan.  Michigan has felt the loving touch of Union "interest" for too many years already.

Bernero..  Just another tool in the box of the MEA and those who would keep Michigan down.

of the MEA and others.  I guess they haven't read any articles on Rod Blagoevich of Illinois.  That's what Bernero reminds me of - less the hair and faster talking.
