    MRG Statewide Poll:
Governor Snyder Is Off To A Good Start

LANSING, Mich. - After just three weeks in office, Michigan voters are giving a thumbs up to Rick Snyder and the job he is doing as Governor of Michigan. In a poll conducted this week, following Snyder's first State of the State Address, forty-three percent (43%) of Michigan voters gave Governor Rick Snyder a positive job rating and only seven percent (7%) disapproved of the job he was doing.

Snyder's positive job approval ratings are in spite of the voter's negative view of the direction the state. A majority of the voters (55 percent) believe the state is on the wrong track, but that is better than the 72 percent of voters who believed the state was on the wrong track in MRG's September 2010 poll before the elections.

"The people of Michigan like what they see from the new administration and appear to be more optimistic about the future of our state," said Tom Shields, President of Marketing Resource Group. "Governor Snyder is certainly benefiting from the goodwill and hope most people have for new political leaders."

In comparison, Governor Jennifer Granholm had a 62 percent approval rating in March of 2003, just three months into her first term, but left office with a dismal approval rating of 35 percent with 55 percent disapproving the job she did (September 2010 poll).

"The data shows that Governor Granholm came into office with strong approval," said Dave Doyle, Executive Vice President of Marketing Resource Group. "But the governor failed to capitalize on her political momentum and squandered her opportunity in office."

On the other hand, Governor John Engler entered office in 1991 with an approval rating of only 35 percent and left office with an overall approval of 47 percent.

The MRG poll was conducted January 24-27 and surveyed 600 likely voters. The margin of error is ± 4%. Smaller samples have larger margins of error.

If he is coming in like Granholm vs Engler..

    ..

Anyhow.  Split of DNRe to the way it was = good move.
Talking about DRIC as if it will happen = Bad move
Corporate tax vs. MBT = OK to good move IMO
MEDC expansion = Really BAD move.
Getting involved in our personal health decisions and diet = Intrusive bad move.

    ...Would like more clarification first.

-- A 6 percent tax imposed on the income of "C" corporations, meaning it would apply to companies with shareholders and not to the "S" corporations such as sole proprietorships and limited liability corporations that are more numerous in Michigan.

-- A tax credit for certain small "C" corporations with gross receipts of less than $20 million or adjusted business income that does not exceed $1.3 million.

Does that mean that "Chrysler Group LLC" is exempt?

It's not publicly traded and that'd be placing Ford, who didn't use taxpayer monies at a disadvantage to Fix It Again Tony, and even more disgusting, the Useless Auto Workers...

    Chrysler's Owners:
United Auto Workers Voluntary Employee Beneficiary Association (63.5%)
    Fiat S.p.A. (25%)
    U.S. Government (9.2%)
    Government of Canada (2.3%)

If that holds true... that plan sucks Governerd!
